Job Description:

Systems/Software Engineer Intern - Storage Spaces Direct Engineering


Have a valuable internship experience working with a great team and the latest storage technology from HPE and Microsoft! Windows Server® Storage Spaces Direct (S2D) is a software-defined storage solution that uses internal storage drives such as SATA/SAS HDD, SSD, and NVMe disks to create shared disk volumes distributed among several cluster nodes. Join an engineering team responsible for engineering HPE's S2D solutions. As part of this team you will work with the latest server hardware and Windows Server® 2016 and Windows Server® 2019 software-defined storage technologies to design and deliver S2D solutions designed and optimized to meet our customers' needs. You will work with customers to understand their requirements. And you will work with Microsoft and other HPE teams to design, configure, validate, and do performance analysis on our Storage Spaces Direct solutions.


* Design S2D solutions based on evaluation of customer requirements and gaps in product line
* Configure server and networking hardware
* Set up and manage Microsoft test infrastructure and tools
* Validate S2D solutions using Microsoft test harness
* Troubleshoot and debug solution issues
* Analyze storage infrastructure performance
* Assist with planning, defining requirements, scoping efforts, and setting appropriate milestones
* Provide innovation and leadership to ensure best in class solutions for our customers

QualificationsEducation and Experience

Completed at least 2nd year toward a Bachelor's (undergraduate) or Master's (graduate) degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent.

Knowledge and Skills

* Understanding and experience with x86 based computer architectures and technologies
* Windows usage, development tools and administration
* Understanding of storage technologies
* Powershell scripting
* Network configuration and administration (nice to have)
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills
* Understanding of software development, test and debug skills and practices
* Desire and ability to learn and apply new skills and technologies at a rapid pace
* Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment
* Experience with Microsoft office products
* Strong English verbal and written communication skills
* Virtualization concepts (nice to have)
