About this Opportunity

As a Controls Engineer, you'll apply standard engineering principles, concepts, theories, and techniques to routine assignments in support of business objectives and under immediate supervision. You will also be responsible for providing fundamental engineering leadership and expertise. You may conduct feasibility studies, determine manpower and cost estimates, and develop engineering criteria. You'll perform primary analyses to develop design options or recommendations for structures, systems, and components. You may also apply originality, ingenuity, and knowledge of other disciplines in solving basic technical issues. Emphasis in your work will be placed on your team participation, ability to plan, and ability to achieve results on assigned projects.

* Develop and implement electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery.
* Install and provide technical support of PLC-based hardware and software.
* Integrate robotic cells for manufacturing.
* Manage capital procurement projects for manufacturing line updates and installations.
* Apply basic supply chain cost, value stream capabilities, and economic principles.
* Apply learned engineering skills to work assignments.
* Apply problem-solving skills and execute solutions to problems independently.
* Coach basic engineering tasks to others.
* Complete engineering tasks within oversight of leadership.
* Follow engineering and quality processes.
* Seek and receive mentoring from Senior Level and Engineering Leadership.
* Seek the approval of the budget owner using the appropriate request process.
* Take good notes, showing your work and assumptions.

Sound Like You?

You might be just who we're looking for if you have...

* A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
* An Engineering/Technical degree from an accredited program, or a two-year Technical degree in a related field with five years of applicable engineering experience.
* Two to four years of professional engineering experience, or zero to three years of specialty engineering experience, applicable internship/co-op experience, and experience with participating in and leading projects.
* Database experience, including SQL queries knowledge (a plus).
* Experience in documenting data for retention, project planning, and using databases.
* Previous experience with using, installing, and troubleshooting vision systems.
* Familiarity with the use of Fanuc, Panasonic, and Motoman equipment.
* Previous experience with computer programming using C, Java, or Python (preferred).
* Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment with steel fabrication (roll-forming, stamping, press brake, etc.) and/or wood processes (Weeke, Homag) (preferred).
* Previous experience using Allen Bradley PLC/Servo/Drive (preferred).
* Project management experience (may be essential for some assignments).
* Knowledge in Lean principles and their application.
* The ability to assess process concepts and determine where continuous improvement opportunities exist.
* The ability to communicate effectively with people at various levels, including Production, Engineering, and Management, as well as the ability to work well with and develop a partnering relationship with other team members.
* Knowledge in the use of common office automation, communication, software, tools, Herman Miller mainframe applications, and Engineering-related software.
* Problem-solving skills and the ability to apply engineering expertise to solving problems.
* The ability to assess priorities and determine a course of action with minimal day-to-day supervision, as well as the ability to anticipate, recognize, and respond effectively to changes which affect project plans.
* An overall business sense and an understanding of how decisions impact business results.
* The ability to perform all essential job functions of the position with or without accommodations.
