Job Description

Henry Ford Health System, one of the nation's largest integrated health systems, is seeking a full time BE/BC Neonatologist (to fill a position due to retirement) and join the team as the 6th Neonatologist and 25+ Neonatal Nurse Practitioners. All responsibilities would be shared between the neonatologists.

The HFHS Division of Neonatology covers four System hospitals which includes a 35-bed, LeveI III perinatal regional referral center NICU (2800 deliveries and 500 + admissions /year) at Henry Ford Hospital (HFH) in Detroit and 3 other Level II units at HF West Bloomfield, HF Wyandotte, and HF Macomb (each with 1500- 2000 deliveries /year).

Neonatologists and NNPs provide coverage at the Level III as well as the newborn service and coverage at the Level II (Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital) center is with Neonatologists (days) and NNPs (nights and weekends) providing 24 hour service. Neonatologists take Night and Weekend calls for both these hospitals are from home.

Henry Ford Macomb Hospital provides Level II care with a neonatologist (days) currently and hospitalists providing in house call, nights and weekends and all the neonatologists provide call from home as moonlighting.

We are also looking at alternative models of care to allow more free time when not covering the HFH NICU or L&D service/Nursery.

The 3rd Level II (Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital) has a NNP (days), and night and weekend call is provided in house by the neonatologists or NNPs. These calls are considered moonlighting and provides additional remuneration. There is an excellent salary and benefits package for the successful candidate.

An active transport team (NNP, RT and Nurse) provides transport for the Level III Unit in Detroit, where the full range of neonatal intensive care including Pediatric surgery, iNO therapy and Body Cooling are offered.

Neonatologists have academic appointments at Wayne State University. Medical student, Family Practice resident and NNP education is part of the role. Developmental follow up assessment is provided in the weekly Clinic attended by the neonatologist, a NNP as well as an occupational therapist. The clinic supports the 30 pediatricians in the system clinics and all HFHS high risk discharges from the NICU or Special care nurseries or from the pediatricians' offices.

* Must have completed an ACGME/AOA approved Pediatric residency program.
* Must have completed or currently completing an ACGME/AOA approved Neonatology fellowship program.
