Responsibilities
The critical care pharmacist will provide comprehensive critical care services, the scope and
extent of which will be determined by the clinical manager

Responsibilities
- The majority of the critical care pharmacist's time (at least 50%) will be dedicated to staffing on critical care units, with a few operational/clinical commitments outside the ICU areas to be determined by the evolving departmental requirements

- The critical care pharmacist will prospectively evaluate all drug therapy for appropriate indications, dosage, drug interactions, and drug allergies; monitor the patient's pharmacotherapeutic regimen foreffectiveness and ADEs; and intervene as needed

- The critical care pharmacist will provide drug therapy-related education to ICU team members

- The critical care pharmacist will develop a plan to integrate pharmacy service into the ICU team's daily rounding and workflow

- The critical care pharmacist will actively participate in all resuscitation events in critical care areas and if possible, the entire hospital. Codes in critical care areas will always take priority

- The critical care pharmacist will coordinate the development and implementation of drug therapy protocols and/or critical care pathways to maximize benefits of drug therapy

- The critical care pharmacist will actively serve on the Henry Ford Health System critical care council as well as the local critical care subcommittee

- The critical care pharmacist will develop and implement pharmacist training programs for personnel working in the ICU areas

- The critical care pharmacist will contribute to the hospital newsletters and drug monographs on issues related to drug use in the ICU areas

- The critical care pharmacist will identify how drug costs may be minimized through appropriate use of drugs in the ICU areas and through implementation of cost-containment measures

- The critical care pharmacist will work closely with the pharmacy director and clinical manager on all their active projects and brief them periodically on progress
Shift: M - F (mostly AM but some PM to allow communication with 2nd and 3rd shift staff)

1 - 2 weekend coverage per month

Qualifications:
Qualifications

- Must hold a doctor of pharmacy (PharmD) degree

- Licensed to practice pharmacy in the state of Michigan

- Does not have any active or pending reprimands on their pharmacist license

- Has completed a pharmacy practice residency (PGY-1)

- Has completed a critical care residency or has been practicing exclusively in a critical care setting for at least 3 years
