Job Description


The Hennepin County Information Technology (IT) Department is seeking an intern to work with the Computer and Software Training team in our effort to expand and improve web-based training to help county staff adopt new technology. In this internship, you will build your skills and experience in online content development, technical writing, and information design.

Location and hours:

This intern will work part-time (approximately 12 - 20 hours per week) from September 2019 through December 2019.

In this internship, you will:

* Assist in the design and development of web-based computer and software training content, including websites, webinars, and video.
* Design and maintain training websites and other content in SharePoint (Hennepin County's intranet platform).
* Participate in content planning and training website redesign initiatives.
* Review current training content for accuracy and usability; identify opportunities to redesign, update, or create new content.
* Gather end-user feedback on new and existing training content.

Need to have:

* Current enrollment in an associate or bachelor's program in Web design, graphic design, instructional design, educational technology, video production, technical writing, communications, or related field.

Nice to have:

* Ability and level of comfort with technology to learn new software programs quickly.
* Strong writing skills.
* Ability to explain technical information in plain language.
* Career interest in: education, training, workforce development, instructional design, web design, communications, or video production.
* Experience with video production software, web design, information design, and/or technical writing.
