Job Description


The Hennepin County Information Technology (IT) Department is seeking a student currently enrolled in a post-secondary undergraduate program to participate in a part-time IT Strategic Communication internship.

Location and hours:

This intern will work part-time (approximately 20 hours per week) starting September 2019 through May 2020 with the possibility of extending the internship on a case-by-case basis.

In this internship, you will:

* Work with the IT strategy and marketing team to help facilitate the strategic planning process and related marketing activities. This internship will build your skills and experience in strategic planning and coordination as well as implementing communication strategies.
* Compile and prepare different sets of data in an easily consumable format to be used as an input to the strategic planning process.
* Assist with prep work for and during strategic planning workshops for technology leaders.
* Assist with strategic plan documentation.
* Assist with creating department communication strategies and providing edits to department communications
* Draft strategic communications and marketing materials for newsletters, web postings, presentations, and digital displays.

Need to have:

* Current enrollment in an associate or bachelor's program in strategic communications, journalism, marketing, public sector management, or a related field.

Nice to have:

* High level of comfort with technology.
* Strong writing skills and ability to use plain language
