Are you a gifted in technical writing or enjoy meeting with customers, drawing inferences from process details, creating workflows and documenting procedures? If you are a goal-oriented, innovative thinker, and enjoy working with others in a casual professional environment serving the Hennepin County community then we may have the intern opportunity for you.

The Hennepin County Information Technology (IT) Department is seeking a student currently enrolled in a post-secondary undergraduate program to participate in a part-time IT Asset Management/Finance opportunity.

Location and hours:

This intern will work part-time (approximately 20 hours per week) starting September 2019 through September 2020 with the possibility of extending the internship on a case-by-case basis.

In this internship, you will:

* Work on predefined processes by meeting with the process owners and Subject Matter Experts.
* Set realistic timelines and goals for completion on outstanding processes in the library.
* Facilitate process workflow modeling by collaborating on process design and clearly define end-to-end use cases.
* Collect data and research the related topics.
* Design and document workflows, SIPOCs, procedure steps, and other related artifacts from templates.
* Obtain final approval and sign-off with Process Owners and SMEs for completion of assigned process along with setting expectations of process ownership and stewardship.
* Assist with user adoption by developing training and communication tools.
* Prepare meeting agendas and minutes
* Learn:
* SharePoint management
* Metadata management
* Product Life Cycle management
* Software Development Life Cycle
* Technical Writing



Need to have:

* Current enrollment in an associate or bachelor's program in mathematics, statistics, economics, finance, computer science, or a related field.

Nice to have:

* Strong analytical thinking skills
* Self-motivated and able to meet deadlines
* Creative eye to spot trends and/or collocations
* Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio
* Accuracy and attention to detail
* Ability to:
* Work collaboratively and independently
* Demonstrate self-motivation and discipline
* Build and maintain collaborative working relationships
* Communicate effectively
* Accept challenges across IT and business areas to make processes and data more consumable
