Job Description


Responsible for safe, profitable and efficient operations on assigned project and management of field personnel. Completes projects within budget and schedule. Conducts all work in accordance with Helix Electric policies, procedures and programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned


* Gains complete understanding of plan details and specifications of the project assigned including estimate, man-hour budget and production rates; communicates plan details to the Project Team.

* Participates in the preparation and communication of construction execution plan, progress schedules and projection of labor, material, and equipment requirements.

* Manages suppliers and subcontractors in conjunction with the Project Manager to ensure safety, profit, scheduling and customer satisfaction.

Lean Construction / Quality:

Plans and organizes work to maximize crew productivity by employing lean construction and use of pre-fabrication. Continuously coordinates with project team on needs for equipment and labor.

* Responsible for quality control on assigned project.
* Ensures that all work performed and products/materials used meet the Helix Electric standard of workmanship and comply with contractual standards, codes, and specifications.

Administrative (Contract/Scheduling/Budgeting):

* Understands and is fully knowledgeable of project contract documents, plans, specifications, subcontracts, purchase orders, shop drawings and all other documents related to the project. Ensures and verifies accurate layout. Verifies compliance with all building codes and local ordinances.
* Maintains professional relationships with G.C., owner, engineer and other members of the construction team.
* Identifies, measures and reports work changes as they pertain to the contract document to Project Manager.
* Participates in pricing any changed or additional work.
* Works with Project Managers and other company representatives to develop job schedule that is consistent with company's responsibilities and commitments.
* Reviews schedule during project to ensure deadlines are met; notifies appropriate parties of all delays or potential delays or acceleration and completes necessary documentation.
* Preplans and communicates project activities using short interval schedules as required. Attends pre-construction and construction meetings as necessary.
* Identifies potential and actual work delays and develops/implements recovery plan; delivers project on schedule.
* Interprets and monitors labor cost productivity reports; reviews job costs with Project Manager and Lead Men.
* Administers timely and accurate paperwork/documentation for project activities to include change orders, T & M, purchase orders, manpower schedules, dailies, timecards, and payroll.
* Communicates, follows, and enforces company policies.


* Implements and monitors the Helix Electric Safety Program.

Management / Leadership:

* Supervises, maintains communication and mentors/coaches Leads and Assistant Superintendents.
* Continuously encourages and promotes teamwork, motivation, people development, communication, and retention within Project Team.
* Collaborate with other regional Superintendents to maximize efficiency and develop tools that improve operations nationwide.
* Actively participates in Helix University as a student and teacher to maintain a level of excellence.


California State Journeyman Certification required. Graduation from a state approved Apprenticeship program highly desired. Minimum 6 years of electrical construction experience with at least 2 years of electrical construction supervisory experience required. OSHA 30 hour certification required (those not having this credential must certify or be enrolled in a certification course within 6 months of hire/promotion). Valid driver's license required.

The work environment will be a construction site, with typical construction noise, temperatures, dust and other environmental factors of a typical construction site. The wearing of PPE appropriate to the work location is always required.
