Job Description

Entry-Level Software Developer (VDF/DataFlex)

Did you major in Mathematics, Engineering, or another similar logical discipline outside of Computer Science, but wished you could do-over those 4 years to be a programmer? At HCSS (based in Sugar Land [Houston], Texas), we'll PAY and TEACH you to become a Software Developer, building software products for the construction industry.

A strong propensity for programming is required. HUGE plus if you've been working on a ton of side coding projects and have the ability to think algorithmically.

During your first three months as an Entry-Level Developer, you'll go through a rigorous training program learning VDF/DataFlex programming and completing assignments to demonstrate a command of languages, libraries and other programming tools. You must be able to learn quickly and take the initiative to utilize resources outside of what is provided in order to succeed. We keep our class sizes small so you have more 1:1 attention with the instructor.

After successfully completing the training, you'll join a development team to work on our industry-leading products.

It's time to launch YOUR career with a 12x award winner of the "Best Company to Work For in Texas". With our continuous learning and educational advancement funds, we'll provide you with the resources to grow further with us. The sky's the limit on what you can achieve!

* NOTE:

Part of our recruitment process includes a math/logic test. HCSS will send you an email within the week after you apply with the test link. In case this is not in your inbox, please also check your spam/junk mail folder. If this is a re-application for the same position, please utilize the test link that was sent to you in your original application.

This is NOT a contract position, NOT a remote position, and at this time we are NOT sponsoring H1-B Visas*

About Heavy Construction Systems Specialists, Inc.

HCSS is a stable company with employee owners that care about the future of the company. This culture has afforded our company the ability to truly make HCSS a great place to work, where employees who enjoy their jobs take pride in taking care of our customers, treat customers like owners do, and treat their responsibilities like they're running their own business. Our culture of ownership, where employees want to share in helping HCSS succeed, has been supported by giving every employee a financial stake in the company. HCSS has been an employee-owned company since 1998; At that time, Mike Rydin, Founder and President/CEO of HCSS, sold 25 percent of the company to the employees via an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) with the idea of getting HCSS employees to think and act like owners. Mike Rydin is still the largest shareholder of HCSS. Through these tools employees are rewarded financially for the positive impact they have on the company and are able to see how their work affects company performance. Having ownership in the company serves as a constant source of motivation for the employees to see that the company grows, and also means that all employees have a shared interest in working together for the benefit of HCSS and its customers. With profit-sharing employees know when they make a positive impact on the company's bottom-line, as well as an impact on their pocketbook. For the past 10 years, employees have received substantial profit sharing, both in cash and ESOP stock.
