About Health Advances

Health Advances was founded in 1992 by Mark Speers and Paula Ness Speers. Leveraging their experience at Bain & Company, where Mark was a Partner in the Healthcare Practice and Paula led the R&D Practice, these founding partners set out to provide early-stage companies with high quality advisory resources and deep industry insight. Skip Irving joined in 1997, contributing industry experience and many years of experience leading Arthur D. Little's worldwide Healthcare Consulting Practice focusing on strategic planning and portfolio analysis for pharmaceutical companies. His knowledge of venture investing and biotech company formation added depth and breadth to the Health Advances leadership team. In 2006, Health Advances was pleased to promote Marie Schiller to Partner, recognizing her impressive tenure advising our clients and her previous industry experience at ArQule, Inc. and GelSciences, Inc. Our teams and clients benefit from her pragmatic approach to translating technical insights into a business framework. Also in 2006, Bill McPhee joined Health Advances as a Director. With experience as the Founder and Managing General Partner of Mi3 Ventures and an extensive consulting career, Bill adds transaction experience and expertise to our team. Bill now leads our newest venture, providing clients with outsourced business development services. Vice Presidents Susan Posner, Christof Marr?, and Kristin Ciriello Pothier round out a solid management team by offering industry experience and practical business solutions for our clients. Each specializes in a segment of the industry, respectively, Medical Devices, Pharmaceuticals and Biotechnology, and Diagnostics.
