Essential Pharmacy Technician job functions and responsibilities:

* Adheres to all Board of Pharmacy, JCAHO, CMS and FDA standards

* Receive and check in all medication and supplies by packing slip/purchase order /or invoice
* Complete and document monthly station inspections with concentration on proper storage of medications and removal of expired medications
* Organize and maintain a clean work area, and keep all areas free of hazards and obstructions
* Rotate inventory upon the put away process to ensure the earliest dating gets dispensed first
* Package and barcode medications in accordance to appropriate policies and procedures
* Maintain records of all prepackaged medications in accordance to all local and federal regulatory agencies
* Maintain all packaging equipment in accordance to policies and procedures
* Use proper sterile technique at all times when preparing IV solutions
* Demonstrates knowledge of IV filtration requirements
* Knowledgeable of dilution / expiration dating of products
* Accurately performs the necessary dosage calculations
* Restocks IV room daily as appropriate
* Helps train new technicians and interns on IV admixture techniques
* Adheres to all USP 797 standards as appropriate
* Maintains appropriate communication with co-workers, healthcare professionals and other personnel
* Meet all department mandated timeframes and guidelines
* Follow all safety policies and procedures
* Practice and adherence to the Code of Conduct, Philosophy, and Mission Statement
* Attend all required training and education set by the organization or pharmacy department
* Perform other duties as assigned


* High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
* Associate's degree (preferred)


* New Hampshire Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration license or New Hampshire Board of Pharmacy Intern license (required)

* National Certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) (preferred)


* Previous Pharmacy Technician experience (required)

* Pharmacy Technician experience in a hospital setting (preferred)
