The responsibilities of the PRN Occupational Therapist include, but are not limited to:

* Administers clinical evaluations and plans appropriate treatment programs. Adapts conventional Occupational Therapy techniques to meet the age appropriate need of each patient along with other specific needs based on his/her mental, physical, and emotional status.


* Establishes implements, modifies treatment plans, and participates in discharge planning.


* Completes documentation in accordance with Rehabilitation Medicine policy and procedures.


* Communicates effectively with all patients, families, Rehabilitation Medicine staff, students, supervisors and contacts outside of Rehabilitation Medicine.


* Maintains patient and staff confidentiality.


* Designs and fits adaptive devices such as splints and braces for patient use.


* Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.


* Responsible for own professional growth and development.


* Adheres to all Rehabilitation Medicine policies and procedures.


* Supervises students, provides clinical direction for assistants, technicians and volunteers.


* Assists with Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement, inventory control, orientation of new employees, billing procedures, monthly statistical computations and payroll as required by Director.


* Conducts training programs and participates in training medical and nursing personnel in occupational therapy techniques and objectives.

EDUCATION: Graduate of an AOTA accredited School of Occupational Therapy

AHA BLS Healthcare Provider CPR certification

LICENSURE: Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Virginia

EXPERIENCE: Previous experience in an acute care facility preferred; new graduates considered
