Manager, U.S. Government and Regulatory Affairs

Purpose/Function of the role:

Monitor and engage on critical legislative, regulatory and industry developments in the United States, Canada, and across the globe, that could have a material impact on Hasbro's business, including toy and product safety regulations, chemical regulations, specific market regulations, barriers to trade, privacy, advertising restrictions, marketing to children, intellectual property, corporate tax reform, Conflict Minerals, and diversity and inclusion. Help develop strategy for Hasbro engagement with federal, state and local policy makers and regulators, on key legislative and regulatory developments related to the company's business.

Primary Responsibilities/ Duties:

• Manage Hasbro's day-to-day U.S. Government and Regulatory Affairs practice, reporting to the Senior Vice President, Global Government and Regulatory Affairs and CSR ("SVP").
• Represent Hasbro on trade associations, including The Toy Association (TA), to monitor federal and state legislative and regulatory developments to ensure Hasbro's voice, experience and expertise are incorporated into newly developing laws and regulations, including participation in TA committees, workgroups, and subcommittees. Areas of responsibility for monitoring and engagement include: corporate tax reform, privacy, product safety and marketing to children.
• Draft bi-weekly internal U.S. Government Affairs Briefing document for distribution to Hasbro senior leadership.
• Review global legislative and regulatory proposals and identify issues/risks that could impact Hasbro products or processes in the U.S.; develop recommendations and prepare monthly update reports for SVP.
• Travel required (majority of which will be domestic)
• Professional self-development.

Qualifications and Competencies:

• B.A. / B.S. and J.D. degrees required; J.D. must be from an accredited U.S. law school
• At least 7 years' experience in a corporate law firm managing regulatory and manufacturing issues or in a highly-regulated consumer products industry, with particular focus on regulatory affairs.
• Understanding of development of worldwide, federal, state and local legislation, regulations and standard setting processes.
• Excellent writing and verbal communication, presentation and PowerPoint skills.
• Writing skills that can be effectively communicated to technical and non-technical internal and external stakeholders.
• Global mindset and collaborative, "can-do" attitude; business partner and team player.
• Ability to spot issues and propose potential strategic and tactical solutions for Hasbro.
• Addresses and resolves conflict directly and constructively, focusing on issues rather than people.
• Fosters a sense of ownership and personal commitment to work.
• Responds resourcefully and constructively to new demands, priorities, challenges and obstacles.
