Applications Programmer

Description

The Application Programmer is part of the Digital Technology Group working on Hasbro's internal and external consumer facing applications and supporting systems. The developer works closely with other developers, DBAs, SysAdmins, online marketers, consumer affairs staff, and more.

The Application Programmer is a skilled, creative thinker with a passion for and skill in web application development. The Digital Technology team member is an innovative, highly organized developer who thrives in a fast paced, forward thinking environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, build, and maintain custom solutions using PHP, Java, node/JavaScript.
• Assist in the configuration and development of custom, commercial and open source systems.
• Support existing web applications.
• Coordinate with consultants and vendors on the development of custom tools as well as off-the-shelf software.
• Work with business clients to ensure that applications fit the needs of Hasbro's global customers
• Manage multiple web applications/services simultaneously on a daily basis.
• Day-to-day maintenance of respective web sites and supporting applications.

Qualifications:

• Proficient in application development with high-level programming languages and OOP principles
• Ability to write/understand advanced SQL queries
• Hands-on experience working with MVC or other development design patterns
• Expert level of back-end web development (PHP, Java, node, etc.)
• Some level of front-end web development (HTML, XML, JSON, JavaScript, CSS)
• Advanced troubleshooting abilities
• Understanding of configuration and deployment of web applications within both Windows and Linux environments
• High level of comfort using command line tools
• Familiarity with Internet current trends in web technology and the desire to learn appropriate new technologies
• Experience working in a Continuous Integration workflows a plus
• Experience with virtualization and/or cloud-based deployment strategies a plus
• Knowledge of noSQL databases (ex: mongoDB, couchDB) a plus
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
• Ability to work under tight deadline constraints
• Solid oral and written communication skills
• Technical writing and editing skills desirable (e.g., technical specifications, help documentation, product documentation)
• Source code samples and URL samples are required
• Scrum experience preferred
• B.A., B.S. degree, or equivalent work experience preferred
