Associate Mechanical Engineer

The Associate Mechanical Engineer performs assignments that require the application of standard engineering techniques and procedures to complete design engineering tasks. Instruction and oversight will be provided by an immediate supervisor for new assignments. Assignments may involve some unusual or difficult problems requiring development of on-the-job knowledge. This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.


Essential Job Functions

* Production of engineering deliverables and completion of basic engineering tasks

* Generation of drawings with the assistance of designers or drafters

* Prepare design calculations and documentation that support the project design basis

* Field information gathering

* Development of specifications and reports

* Shop drawing review

* Construction RFI review and development of responses

* Regular and reliable attendance

* Ability and willingness to travel to off-site locations and/or accept client site assignments when required

* Ability to pass client badging and screening processes

Knowledge & Skills

* Fundamental knowledge of mechanical engineering and understanding of mechanical systems

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills

* Ability to use a computer and computer software programs relevant to the engineering discipline, and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Educational & Work Experience

* 0-3 years of mechanical design experience

* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field

* EIT preferred

Physical Requirements

Work is performed mostly in office settings. Some on-site work is required in the inspection of various land use developments, construction sites or public works facilities. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate drafting instruments, computers and various pieces of office equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and smell.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.


Travel can be required.
