Job Summary
This position reports to the Director of Accounting and will be responsible for assisting in the management of accounting functions. Such functions include playing an active role in monthly financial closes and reporting, providing guidance to the team to ensure the maintenance of accurate books and records, and participating in projects as necessary.


• Manages Accounting staff performance.

• Assists in providing Accounting leadership and direction.

Maintenance of Accurate Books and Records

• Ensures accurate and proper recording of financial transactions.

• Prepares recommendations relative to the accounting reserves, assets, and expenditures.

• Ensures accounting team's commitment to timely and accurate processing of accounting transactions in accordance with GAAP, HDFS policies and procedures, Sarbanes-Oxley and internal controls.

• Manages Sarbanes-Oxley testing and ensures controls are appropriate.

• Reviews monthly journal entries.

• Reviews monthly accounting reconciliations.

• Performs general ledger maintenance.

• Assists financial analysts as needed in the preparation and analysis of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts.


• Assists in the monthly accounting close.

• Assists in the preparation of quarterly and year-end financials and other regulatory reporting.

• Assists in coordination of internal and external audits.

• Prepares ad-hoc reporting and analyses.


• Measures accomplishments to pre-established goals.

• Participates in the coordination, creation and continuous improvement of processes.

• Performs other duties as are assigned by the Controller or the Director of Accounting, such as leading and participating in projects.

• Responsible for protecting employees, customers and corporate information. Follows established physical, electronic and procedural safeguards, including policies regarding data protection, segregation of duties, use of passwords, and access to information based solely on business need. In addition, any company-proprietary information (including but not limited to customer information) may not be transferred or transported outside of HDFS by employees upon leaving the company.

• Maintains a current awareness and understanding of appropriate banking laws, regulations, internal policies and procedures, and to comply fully with those laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

Education Required
Bachelor degree with concentration in Accounting required

Experience Required
Experience & Knowledge

• Minimum of 7 years experience (some public
accounting experience preferred)

• Banking and/or insurance experience preferred

• Supervisory experience required

• CPA certification is required

• General ledger experience is a plus

• Financial reporting experience is a plus

• Proficiency in MS Word and Excel required

• SAP, accounting software, experience is a plus
