Based at our Product Development Center in Wauwatosa, WI, the Product Development Purchasing Manager will lead a team to ensure timely and effective supplier process development for new components and sub-systems in support of OE new product development. This position will be responsible for the transition of materials and suppliers from pre-development into the execution phase of product development. This includes coaching internal and external stakeholders on utilizing Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) tools and techniques in support of new product development

The Product Development Purchasing Manager will work cross-functionally with engineering and our suppliers through the early stages of the product development process and into product launch. This role will provide support to all stakeholders throughout the supply chain to ensure program Quality, Cost, and Timing targets are met while addressing process or quality issues through driving quick resolution to ensure successful launch. This position will provide leadership to guide, encourage, and support the development of others. They will track and communicate overall performance of product development purchasing and new model supplier performance. They will also oversee supplier manufacturing feasibility analysis and manufacturing process development.

We are looking for someone with..

8+ years of broad experience in the following areas including 1 year of operations or product development:

• Knowledge in the production and procurement of components and systems

• Contribution to new product launches including experience in product and process development techniques, cost management tools, and supply chain management

• Leading successful continuous improvement projects while demonstrating effective project management skills

• Knowledge of operations techniques including statistical operator control (SOC), just in time (JIT) manufacturing, bench-marking, and quality and continuous improvement tools

• Ability to direct external support staff and outside agencies and to influence through indirect authority

• Strong knowledge of PC-based word processing and spreadsheet software

• Demonstrated knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) tools and techniques in support of new product development

• Experience in an automotive or motorcycle manufacturing environment is preferred

• Motorcycle riding experience or knowledge in the area of Harley-Davidson motorcycles and accessories is preferred
