The design engineer - fuel and styled systems will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to design, develop and deliver vehicle components to production. Additionally, they will deliver optimal designs while adhering to project targets, performance objectives, high quality, and cost minimization. The design engineer will use engineering tools such as CAD models and drawings, as well as, predictive analysis and conventional engineering calculations to demonstrate and communicate robustness of designs. The design engineer must develop and track work through detailed project plans, lead presentation of design options through a formalized design review process, perform DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, analyze test results and bring closure to test findings.

Education Required
This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical degree.

Experience Required
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. In addition, they will have demonstrated the following:

• Styled system and/or fuel system design experience a plus

• Examples of potential components and systems of responsibility (including but not limited to):
o Styled Systems -fenders, covers, general formed - cosmetic sheet metal, consoles, medallions/badges
o Fuel Delivery Systems - Pumps, filters, pressure regulation, lines/hoses/fittings, carbon canisters, level sensing, electrical interfaces (hardware design and functional requirements)
o Fuel Storage - tanks, caps, venting, fittings, pump mounting and assembly

• Comfort in managing functional tradeoffs between components and improving designs through clear understanding of operating envelopes, load paths, manufacturing processes, material properties, bolted joint analysis, datum schemes, and tolerancing.

• Strong understanding of fundamental physics and demonstrated usage of a variety of tools to improve designs (i.e. engineering calculations, bolted joint analysis, FEA, GD&T, tolerance stackup analysis)

• Strong communication skills

• Demonstrated examples of innovative thinking and creative problem solving approaches

• Familiarity with CAD tools
