About the Position

Guggenheim is seeking an exceptional Trading Assistant to join its Equities and Derivatives Trading Team. Reporting to the Senior Traders, this person will join an experienced team responsible for implementing trading strategies for Guggenheim Investments' ETFs and mutual funds. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be motivated to learn.

The Trading Assistant role presents an opportunity to learn the Trading, Investment and Operations functions of the Equity and Derivative Trading Teams and to work with the traders and portfolio managers across Guggenheim Investment's Rockville, NYC, Chicago and Santa Monica offices. The position is located in Rockville, MD.

Specific Responsibilities Include

* Learn the team's investment products, systems, and applications. After becoming competent in the process, the candidate will contribute ideas and executions strategies on how to implement process improvement.
* Track corporate actions and index events that may impact investment decisions on an ongoing basis. Implement those changes within the investment modeling framework and communicate the changes, as well as any performance impact, with relevant portfolio managers.
* Communicate with the Trading Team, Accounting Group, Custodian Banks, and trade execution partners in order to confirm transaction and settlement details.
* Responsible for providing trade analysis, creating pre and post trade reports, and sending those reports along with observations to the PM and Trading Teams.
* Support the Equity Best Execution Process by generating periodic reports and analysis. This will require the ability to source data from multiple locations and synthesize that information into summary reports.
* Support the operations of the derivatives traders with the daily booking of trades.
* Generate equity stock basket orders through our Order Management System (OMS).
* Work on End of Day reporting of trading and commissions.
* Lead new accounts documentation as it comes up

Skills & Experience Required

* Degree in Finance or Economics preferred
* 1 to 5 years of Financial Services experience preferred
* Occasional evening meetings required with Wall Street trading partners
* Periodic travel to New York and Chicago

In addition, the ideal candidate will be or have

* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work in team environment with multiple hand-offs of tasks and review of work by colleagues
* Able to demonstrate knowledge or aptitude with Visual Basic or Python programming languages
* Able to demonstrate skill with Microsoft Excel
* Ability to communicate time-sensitive trades with accuracy and urgency
* Has a desire to work in financial services field and is self-motivated to improve their skills and knowledge
* Can handle detailed work on smaller tasks and stay motivated
