Job Summary

Designs and manages Physical Environment regulatory compliance across the GHS domain.  Monitors and acts to improve GHS system regulatory and accreditation compliance for Environmental Care (EC) and Emergency Management (EM).  Monitors and maintains an applicable current documentation filing respective to a variety of regulatory agencies, i.e., EPA, EOC, DHEC, JCAHO,etc.  Develops and actuates analytics program to capture and compile data.  Supports emergency management initiatives with team to Coordinate federal emergency management grants in collaboration with internal customers and external healthcare and governmental agencies. Coordinates new employee orientation and HealthStream EC/EM educational programming.  HICS Command staff team participant.  Coordinates and investigates identified accident and related claims.  Directs indoor air quality investigations.  Participates in external surveys as survey team member.  Leads mock survey teams across enterprise.  Assures campus liaisons are compliant.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.

Minimum Education

Master's Degree preferably in healtcare safety management engineering, medical equipment, or related

Minimum Experience

3 years' experience in healthcare environment of care, healthcare emergency management, healthcare compliance/survey experience with OSHA, TJC, DHEC, EPA, CMS.  Knowledge of EC, EM, LSC.  Has consultative visitation skills.  Possess the following certifications: CHSP, CHEP, LSCS, SCSHEM member

CHSP, CSP, CHEP or LSCS - Required

In lieu of the Above Minimum Requirements

Batchelor's Degree plus  5 years in hospital-specific safety, EC, EM, LS, compliance, internal/external survey experience, incident command skill sets, ED experience, consultative visitation skill sets for internal and external customers.

Other Required Experience

Interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively with physicians, nurses other internal & external healthcare professionals - Required

Negotiating skills; working knowledge of EC, compliance  & processess - Required

Hazard surveillance, worker safety initiatives experience, life safety knowledge, environmental monitoring skills  - Required

Joint Commission Accreditation & licensure survey experience - Required
