Job Summary

Responsible for the purchase of products and services that are generated from the Purchasing's computer system (InFor) or as assigned by MDC Management Staff and consistent with accepted standards for quality and service.  Placement of purchase orders will be with either an approved supplier and/or in compliance with the group purchasing organization (GPO) contracts.  Responsible for validating the requisition information.  Responsible for follow-up and expediting purchase orders and communicating with departments the status of overdue purchase orders.  Will coordinate the disposition of returned merchandise internally and with the supplier.  Will utilize the Purchasing  computer system and its functions to maintain the accuracy of all related Purchasing information and in communicating with departments throughout GHS.  Will work with, coordinate with, and consult with Purchasing Agents on all products and services that vary from the requisition.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree - Business or Supply Chain preferred

Minimum Experience

2 years - Purchasing

Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses


Specific Acceptable Credentials (if applicable)


In lieu of the Above Minimum Requirements

Associates Degree and five (5) years Purchasing experience or High School with ten (10) years Purchasing experience.
