Job Summary

Provides high quality pre-hospital and inter-facility  advanced life support including assessment triage, and treatment utilizing established Clinical Operating Guidelines approved by the GHS Mobile Care Medical Control, with scope of practice; assesses the nature and extent of the illness and injury to establish and prioritize care needed for safe transport of the critical care patient to an appropriate facility. Is qualified to provide care for patients across the life-span in assigned clinical area. Assures that safety remains the highest priority throughout the transport continuum. Supports MCAS daily operations.  When assigned, the Critical Care Paramedic will provide operational oversight of an assigned shift in absence of the assigned supervisor.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.

Minimum Education

Approved Paramedic Education Program

Minimum Experience

3 years as a Paramedic

Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses


Specific Acceptable Credentials (if applicable)

SC Paramedic, National Registry Certified

BCLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP - Required


SC Driver's license (Lawson Code: LCSD)

Must hold one of the the following three critical care certifications: FP-C (Flight Critical Care Paramedic) OR CCP-C (Critical Care Paramedic Certification) OR CCEMTP (Critical Care Emergency Medical Transport Program)

In lieu of the Above Minimum Requirements


Other Required Experience

Hemodynamic monitoring, Shock assessment and monitoring, Rapid Sequence Incubation, Pharmacology, Infection Control, Lab Data interpretation, ABGs, Ventilation Theory, IABP, GI/GU and Acid/Base, Endocrine Emergencies, Neuro considerations, Dive Physiology, OB/GYN, Burns, Trauma, Neonatology, Pediatrics, Cardiovascular considerations, ToxicologyWMD and Flight Physiology - Preferred
