Job Description

General Summary:

This position has primary responsibility for all quality assurance and quality control activities. The individual will develop, implement and direct quality systems to prevent or eliminate defects and ensure quality assurance is incorporated throughout all systems and processes.  The position supports the implementation and maintaining of Lean Manufacturing Systems, GPS and all other Greenheck Group initiatives.

Further, the position is responsible for supporting strategic plans, policies and procedures at all levels to ensure that the quality management system will meet or exceed internal or external customer’s needs and expectations.


Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

Essential functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Plan, develop and implement a quality management system to delineate: areas of responsibility, operational policies and procedures, record keeping requirements, training requirements, process and product qualification, validation and monitoring.
  • Implement and continually improve the quality management system, policies and procedures to ensure: customer satisfaction; attainment of product requirements and customer expectations; and the effective and efficient support of manufacturing.
  • Plan, develop and implement effective and efficient quality plans for specific products and customers.
  • Ensure that processes needed for the quality management system are established, implemented and maintained; report to top management on the performance of the quality management system and any need for improvement; and ensure the promotion of awareness of customer requirements throughout the organization.
  • Conduct and/or attend management meetings to establish, delineate and review quality assurance program organizational policies, to coordinate functions and operations between departments and to establish responsibilities and procedures for attaining objectives.
  • Review technical problems and procedures of departments and recommend solutions to problems or changes in procedures in order to enhance overall quality of processes and systems.
  • Lead and direct continual improvement efforts.
  • Manage the corrective/preventive action program as it relates to manufacturing processes.
  • Plan, develop and implement training programs for all division employees.
  • Ensure that the product audit program effectively monitors, evaluates and reports on product quality.
  • Responsible for all external (customer or third party) quality management system audits.
  • Interface with customers on quality and technical issues.
  • Obtain, analyze and respond to customer feedback.
  • Work jointly with purchasing to evaluate suppliers; compiling, issuing and maintaining reports on supplier performance and maintaining a list of Approved Suppliers for the various departments.
  • Coordinate and maintain records of the Continuous Improvements, Corrective/Preventive Action as it relates to manufacturing processes and Customer Complain processes.
  • Foster teamwork within the organization, develop and maintain cooperative relationships between departments.
  • Travel on company business, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manager.


Job Qualifications

Work requires a professional level of knowledge in a specialized field, which is equivalent to that which would be acquired by completing a regular four-year college program in an engineering discipline.

Between 1-3 years of work experience is required.

  • Experience in sheet metal fabrication or related manufacturing is a definite advantage.
  • ASQC Certified Quality Engineer or Manager is a plus.
  • Supervisory experience with proven ability to train, develop, motivate and coach is a plus.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a broad knowledge of statistics, SPC, measuring & testing equipment and blueprint reading.
  • Knowledge and understanding of quality management systems tools.
  • Strong communications skills.
  • Detail-oriented, ability to plan, organize and set priorities in order to meet deadlines.
  • Communicate well, verbally and in writing with a good command of the English language.
  • Must be computer-literate with knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Will demonstrate regular attendance, teamwork, initiative, dependability and promptness.
  • Work requires a professional level of knowledge in a specialized field, which is equivalent to that which would be acquired by completing a regular four-year college program.
