Job Description


The position will work directly with the Sr. VP and GCP's Business Development program team in carrying out the mission and objectives of the program in accordance with the GCP, its Board policies and strategic plan. The position's primary responsibility will be management of the GCPs Business Retention, Expansion and Attraction (BREA) activities and partnership with the JobsOhio Cleveland Area office.

This position will be responsible for:

  • Oversight of GCP's Cleveland Area BREA project management portfolio in collaboration with JobsOhio Cleveland Area office;

  • Work collaboratively with TeamNEO, JobsOhio's regional network partner and other local, regional and statewide partners on delivery of Cleveland Area Business Development Strategy;

  • In coordination with Sr. VP and program leadership team, manage Business Development staff responsible for BREA activities in GCPs service area.

This individual must demonstrate impeccable client service, including: managing work plans, expectations and coordination and collaboration with the senior leadership team of Business Development Program as well as internal and external partners. This individual must effectively manage and promote development and growth of direct reports and GCP professional staff.


  • Manage GCP BREA program activities in the Jobs Ohio Cleveland Area and GCP service area as defined in coordination and collaboration with local, regional and statewide public, private and not for profit partners;

  • In collaboration with JobsOhio Cleveland Area leadership team, oversee business retention, expansion and attraction project management activities, portfolio and professional staff;

  • Manage on-going relationships with local and regional partner agencies to drive both GCP strategic plan priorities and JobsOhio Cleveland Area business development strategies;

  • Maintain an extensive network of local public, private and nonprofit connections that can be accessed for business outreach, issue expertise, and target industry sector deliverables;

  • Generate detailed business, real estate and financial analysis to support business and economic development projects;

  • Service as primary liaison to Jobs Ohio Cleveland Area Office leadership;

  • Assist with management and day to day activities of Business Development Program;

  • Other job-related functions as assigned.


  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field is required. Advanced degree preferred;

  • Minimum 10+ years' experience in economic and business development or related fields; public finance expertise, financial analysis and credit underwriting;

  • Extensive knowledge of local and state governmental processes pertaining to business and real estate development;

  • Superior organization and communication skills (written and verbal);

  • Demonstrated commitment to Economic and Business Development;

  • Ability to work independently and in team setting;

  • Enthusiastic, outgoing personality, interested in helping others;

  • Computer experience and knowledge necessary; experience with Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, and Microsoft programs, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. SalesForce experience a plus.
