POSITION SUMMARY:

The GCP Senior Director, Project Management, will be responsible for project management of Business Retention, Expansion and Attraction (BREA) activities in the Cleveland Area (Cuyahoga, Lake and Geauga counties). This person will work in coordination with JobsOhio, JobsOhio Cleveland area operations, TeamNEO and other local private and public economic development partners. The position will pursue leads and manage economic development projects designed to attract new and retain and expand existing businesses in Ohio to generate new job creation and increased capital investment.

Key duties include but are not limited to: creating and making recommendations to JobsOhio for incentive packages (eg, tax credits, loans and grants) and negotiations of deals with company officials and state agencies. In addition, this person will proactively reach out to partners to offer assistance at various phases of a company project.

ESSENTIONAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assists existing Cleveland Area (Cuyahoga, Lake and Geauga County) companies expand their business operations, and locate out-of-state & international prospects in Cleveland Area to retain and create jobs and develop capital investments within the state of Ohio;

  • Manages portfolio of projects, responsible for seeing assigned projects through from conception to compliance, ensuring all details are thorough and complete (eg, documents such as contracts are accurate and executed in full);

  • Follows up on leads of possible projects from a variety of sources;

  • In coordination with GCP leadership and other Cleveland Area partners, meet with existing Cleveland Area companies to assist in expansion strategies or dissuade them from relocating or expanding outside of Ohio;

  • Works closely with companies to discuss confidential business information (eg, financial information and strategic plans);

  • Determines needs of company and identifies viable JobsOhio, State of Ohio, and in concert with GCP team, identify local programs and solutions;

  • Delivers pitches (eg, Ohio's strategic locations, developed infrastructure, and highly educated and motivated workforce) to entice and assist companies in expansion or attraction efforts within Ohio;

  • Structures recommendations to JobsOhio for incentive packages (eg, tax credits, loans, grants, and bonds) and negotiations of deals with company officials, community leaders, elected community officials and state agencies;

  • Meet with local agencies, communities and companies as a technical expert on state incentive & financing programs;

  • Acts as an agent for a client company which wants to remain anonymous to provide site and building searches in Ohio;

  • Presents projects before various JobsOhio and State approval bodies;

  • Helps companies through the various application processes.

  • Participate in weekly and monthly status meetings with JobsOhio, state, regional and local partners.

  • Assists in preparation of briefings for GCP senior leadership and JobsOhio;

  • Represents GCP and JobsOhio with various groups and at conferences and events

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field is required. Advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum 7-10 years public finance, private credit underwriting and real estate development experience; economic and business development related experience preferred.

  • Represent the organization through significant interaction with internal and external parties including state, regional and local partners and companies.

  • Delivers an advanced level of functional knowledge and experience.

  • Superior communication skills (written and verbal); strong presentation skills mandatory

  • Must be able to operate in team setting.

  • Enthusiasm, outgoing personality, interested in helping others.

  • Computer experience and knowledge necessary; experience with Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, and Microsoft programs, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. SalesForce experience a plus.
