We are recruiting to fill openings for Field Service Technical Advisors Generator Specialists to travel to customer sites and support our customers with their installation, maintenance, and warranty work with industrial power generation rotating equipment, primarily Steam Turbines and some Gas Turbines.

We have openings for entry level candidates, recently graduated with an engineering or technical degree or equivalent field experience, and openings for intermediate Field Service Turbine TA's with less than 5 years' experience.

Training will consist of classroom and OJT and will involve product knowledge, technology, safety, and work processes.

These positions are based in the US and Canada and require candidates that are citizen or legal residents of the US or Canada. You must be able to pass a drug test and background check. Some of the physical requirements of this position are traveling / field service job that requires you to be able to be away from home for extended periods of time, the ability to lift safely a minimum of 50 pounds, perform physical work related activities, and wear personal safety protection equipment (PPE).

Duties will consist of, but are not limited to, the following activities:

o Perform inspection and testing of the generator field and stator utilizing the latest technology. (MAGIC Jr. & Sr. inspection, Digital/Analog EL-CID, Flush and Bake skid (FAB), Quick skid, Capacitance Mapping, Tracer Gas, Vacuum Decay, Pressure Decay, 60 Hertz AC HIPOT test set, Wedge Tapping, Computer Based Reporting tool), Epoxy Injection, UT Flow, Hazmat training and other topics as business needs arise)

o Direct and perform repair or inspection procedures utilizing the latest electronic communication, references and documentation technologies. (Need to possess good computer skills)

o Recognize, Predict and document potential generator failures.

o Present to the customer accurate generator quality issues as presented and selected by Generator Product Service and regional generator specialists.

o Familiarity with Power Circuit Breakers, Protective Relay Systems, AC and DC Motors / Generators, Programmable Logic Controllers

o Working knowledge of basic electrical circuits and electrical troubleshooting

o Working knowledge of prints/print reading, such as manufacturing drawings, P&IDs and schematic drawings

Participate as a Service Team member dedicated to Safety metrics.

o Pre-outage planning; possibly recommending and administering policies and procedures

o Lead execution of projects, including: generator field and stator rewinds, general generator repairs, and inspections

o Execute project management and technical leader duties. Support warranty administration and troubleshooting issues.

o Perform work at GE and customer locations throughout the United States (primary) with possible work locations globally. Weekend work, and shift work will be necessary.

o Able to travel extensively and work significant over-time.

o Complete service reports and other administrative requirements timely.

o Drive customer satisfaction through commitment to quality.

o Support the business growth initiatives.

o Job assignments can be either Domestic or International. Extension travel, weekend work, and shift work may be necessary. Requirements: technical competence, 'hands-on' experience with industrial turbine/generators, results oriented, leadership ability, willingness to travel, and flexibility.


o Degree in Engineering is preferred, as well as 2-5 years of experience in power plant maintenance, turbine generator maintenance, or power plant equipment installation/ commissioning. Successful completion of GE training program is a minimum requirement once hired.

o Possess a four-year technical degree Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (BSEE, MSEE, BSME, MSME), or a two-year degree in Electronics (AAS, BSEE) or Mechanics (AAS, BSME) with equivalent experience. Graduate of military technical training may be acceptable as determined by the Service Manager. 5 - 10 years of practical experience will be considered instead of school.

o Solid verbal and written communication skills, ability to read and write English. Write project and progress reports.

o Computer skills with familiarity of MS Office products. Ability to learn other software tool applications to support HMI and application changes.

o Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.

o Electronics and/or mechanical trouble shooting skills with a "Hands-on approach."

o Self-starter with minimal supervision requirement; able to work independently; ability to prioritize, organize work, and meet deadlines

o Ability to set and meet aggressive targets.

o Successful completion of the GE training program is required once hired
