We are recruiting to fill openings for Field Service Technical Advisors to travel to customer sites and support our customers with their installation, maintenance, and warranty work with industrial power generation rotating equipment, primarily Steam Turbines and some Gas Turbines. We have openings for entry level candidates, recently graduated with an engineering or technical degree or equivalent field experience, and openings for intermediate Field Service Turbine TA's with less than 5 years' experience.
These Field Engineers / Technical Advisors will provide on-site technical direction to customer-owned utility and industrial power plants for their turbine and generator control systems, Mark VIe. OEM training provides the technical skills for the engineer to operate confidently and independently for Granite Services.
Training will consist of classroom and OJT and will involve product knowledge, technology, safety, and work processes
These positions are based in the US and Canada and require candidates that are citizen or legal residents of the US or Canada. You must be able to pass a drug test and background check. Some of the physical requirements of this position are traveling / field service job that requires you to be able to be away from home for extended periods of time, the ability to lift safely a minimum of 50 pounds, perform physical work related activities, and wear personal safety protection equipment (PPE).
Duties will consist of, but are not limited to, the following activities:
o Actively manage controls activities on site during Installation & Commissioning and Maintenance of gas turbines, including but not limited to oversight of installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and diagnostics on gas turbine and auxiliary systems
o Trace through the software documentation
o Implement control constant modifications
o Reading and modifying software sequencing
o Operation and configuration of regulators
o Creating and modifying graphics displays
o Set up and modify the hardware and software associated with the Gas/Steam Turbine Control system
o Implement control system software changes
o Coordinate a group of project participants to produce an integrated turbine control system.
o Interface directly with Customers during all phases of project
o Make regular reports (written & verbal) on project status to department management.
o May work with both DOS and Windows NT based operator interfaces
o Supervise the installation / terminating wiring, complete functionality checks, and troubleshooting the turbine control system. Perform start-up/shut-down sequencing and turbine/generator operation.
o Plan, organize, integrate, and direct labor and tool and material allocation
o Understand PLC ladder logic, including basic understanding of how to navigate through ladder rungs while troubleshooting
o Degree in Engineering is preferred, as well as 2-5 years of experience in power plant maintenance, turbine generator maintenance, or power plant equipment installation/ commissioning. Successful completion of GE training program is a minimum requirement once hired.
o Possess a four-year technical degree Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (BSEE, MSEE, BSME, MSME), or a two-year degree in Electronics (AAS, BSEE) or Mechanics (AAS, BSME) with equivalent experience. Graduate of military technical training may be acceptable as determined by the Service Manager. 5 - 10 years of practical experience will be considered instead of school.
o Solid verbal and written communication skills, ability to read and write English. Write project and progress reports.
o Computer skills with familiarity of MS Office products. Ability to learn other software tool applications to support HMI and application changes.
o Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
o Electronics and/or mechanical trouble shooting skills with a "Hands-on approach."
o Self-starter with minimal supervision requirement; able to work independently; ability to prioritize, organize work, and meet deadlines
o Ability to set and meet aggressive targets.
o Successful completion of the GE training program is required once hired
