WRD Intern

Layne, a Granite Construction Company is currently seeking an intern for approximately 8 weeks during the summer of 2020 based out of our Fenton, Missouri Water Resources office. This opportunity is a great way to learn about our business and provide assistance to field operations, project management and business development to ensure successful completion of water well drilling and rehabilitation projects.

Essential Job Accountabilities

* Work as part of field crew to complete various tasks associated with execution of water well drilling projects. This will include helping operators; performing manual labor and operating and servicing trucks, pumps and other heavy equipment.
* Assist and support project management team with project execution including drafting proposals, cost estimation and forecasting, contract negotiation/management and subcontractor and vendor negotiation/management
* Assist and support business development including identifying client needs, developing tailored solutions to present to customer and overall development and management of client relationships.

Additional Requirements/Skills

* Comply, understand, and support corporate safety initiatives to ensure a safe work environment.
* Team player
* Ability and willingness to abide by Granite's Code of Conduct daily
* Valid driver's license and ability to drive

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. the employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to operate a computer keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Subject to outside working conditions. At times will be working around large construction equipment, must be safety conscience.
