Position Description

The Inventory Analyst is responsible for the execution of timely and accurate department reports and tools used by E&R Industrial – Inventory, Inside Sales, IT, Warehouse and other departments to understand supply chain performance and best practices for optimization.


This position has a direct impact on customer satisfaction by ensuring high levels of product availability through active management.  This position will also be responsible for meeting aggressive inventory investment goals.


Individuals in this role are expected to meet deadlines, understand business needs/requirements and develop flexible, scalable processes to foster change as required by the business.



  • Produces timely and accurate reports for internal and external business partners for their use in making informed decisions to effectively meet or exceed departmental goals.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to understand business reporting requirements.
  • Works with supervisor and peers to support improvement initiatives and/or system development efforts.
  • Effectively correlate multiple metrics across the supply chain to tell a holistic story.
  • Collaborates with end users to answer questions, interpret reports and provide additional insight and information at the appropriate level of detail.
  • Responsible for creating and executing report changes to improve information provided and report generation cycle time.
  • Responsible for daily maintenance of existing reports to ensure all the information is producing the intended results.
  • Responsible for fixing any internal reports that are not running properly.
  • Simplify, enhance, and engineer basic reporting processes.
  • Demonstrate ability to leverage both business acumen and technical skills to deliver results.
  • Demonstrated general understanding of key business strategies and how tools and reports support them.
  • Participate on cross-functional teams and projects as required appropriate to ensure stakeholder concerns, and business issues are properly addressed for increased productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction/service.



  • Primarily responsible for the redeployment and/or return of slow moving inventory to maximize ROIC for the organization.
  • Required to understand and assist in the regular maintenance of the inventory planning system.
  • Responsible for working with supply chain partners to develop strategies that allow the company to meet aggressive customer service and inventory performance targets.
  • Reviews and analyzes planning data to prepare reports for management review.
  • Serves as a liaison between Inventory Planning and all departments.
  • Performs ad hoc analyses as needed.
  • Meets regularly with supply chain partners to discuss the impact that new product launches/introductions, promotions, and seasonal planning will have on inventory, the warehouses and vendors.
  • Identifies and recommends enhancements to supply chain systems to improve utilization of inventory

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Statistics or related field.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in inventory analysis with an emphasis in logistics, forecasting and/or planning.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Access, Excel and Word
  • Requires knowledge of downloading and uploading information via mainframe and PC systems.
  • Must understand the order-to-cash process and interdependencies and effects of each activity on the inventory planning process.
  • Ability to find creative solutions to problems and strive for continuous improvement.
  • Understanding of key financial and customer service ratios.
  • Certification in American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) and/or Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) a plus.
  • Working knowledge of SAP Supply Chain Suite, particularly Advance Planning & Optimization a plus.
