Job Description

W.W. Grainger, Inc. is a business-to-business distributor of products used to maintain, repair and operate facilities. Approximately 3 million businesses and institutions worldwide rely on Grainger for products such as safety gloves, ladders, motors and janitorial supplies, along with services like inventory management and technical support. The HRIS analyst provides support in the design, development, enhancement, implementation, maintenance, and support of enterprise HR technology.  This resource drives operational excellence for the HR technology platforms and related enterprise applications.  The primary responsibility of a HRIS analyst is to maintain and support HR solutions enabling North American and global HR processes for compensation, benefits, talent acquisition, performance management, learning, payroll, and personnel administration. 

 

This resource will serve as the Agile product owner, or technical point of contact, and subject matter expert for HR system and process design, testing, and data flow.  The HRIS Analyst performs data loads, tests changes, support audits, answer emails, resolve tickets, recommends process and system improvements, and produces end-user documentation for Grainger's HR systems to drive accurate and timely management of our talent and a positive team member experience.  This resource must have strong knowledge of HR technology, specifically SAP HCM and Successfactors, and experience providing day to day support for outsourced and/or hosted solutions.

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with HR business partners, HR centers of excellence (COEs), and enterprise systems to create solutions that address current and future needs
  • Maintain and support HR applications and systems (compensation, benefits, talent acquisition, performance management, learning management (LMS), payroll, and personnel administration)
  • Contribute to the evaluation, analysis, design, and maintenance of on-premise, hosted, outsourced, and cloud-based HR technology solutions
  • Assist in documenting HR and business requirements and evaluating HR technology solutions
  • Maintains and updates HR master data and team member data for large projects and significant system changes
  • Coordinate and contribute to the testing and implementation of all system changes and implementation of new functionality and/or systems
  • Document standard processes and procedures; create and deploy user documentation and guides for HR resources, leaders, and team members;  Train HR users on HR technology
  • Identify areas for improvement in HR or related systems and processes;  continually evaluate new system functionality/trends  to support long term human resources business goals
  • Manage and provide day to day support for outsourced solutions with third party vendors
  • Resolve service now and EIC tickets

 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Information Systems, or Human Resources, or equivalent related experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate with various management levels and evaluate alternative business solutions.
  • Customer service orientation and ability to maintain a professional demeanor
  • Competent in business acumen and exposure to HR technology software
  • Analytical and problem solving skills; Ability to collect and analyze data, and present findings to support recommended solutions and decisions
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Proactively identify opportunities to increase process/system efficiencies, customer satisfaction and overall business improvement.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge in on-premise, outsourced, and cloud HR and related applications including:
    • SAP HCM and SAP Successfactors, or equivalent HR Technology
    • HR outsourcing solutions (i.e. ADP, Aon, Vanguard)
    • Data management/ETL tools (i.e. Backoffice)
    • Database and/or report writing knowledge (i.e. Teradata, SQL)
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Access, Visio, Powerpoint)
  • Basic knowledge of Network architecture, IT infrastructure, and hardware.

 

Work Environment

Internal

  • Reports directly to HRIS and Business Intelligence Leader
  • Works directly with members of the HR and ES organizations
  • Communicates and interacts with other business departments and customers as appropriate to support their needs and provide second and third level support

 

External

  • Establishes and maintains relationships with various service vendors, consultants and software companies to negotiate capabilities, services and manage ongoing operations.

 

Impact

  • Responsible for HR Technology Systems, the data integrity of those systems, and ensuring the service levels are supported and met.
  • Maintain and support the global systems that leaders utilize to manage 25,000 global team members and over $2B in people spend. 
  • Maintain and support the North American systems that enable all customer facing enterprise applications
  • Drive efficiency of work processes and quality of work products for HR, business leaders, and team members
  • Work with confidential information relating to individual employees and company performance for many sensitive and confidential areas.
  • Make recommendations on strategy for systems and software that have a significant impact on the quality and availability of information to HR and leaders
  • Translate HR business problems and opportunities into requirements and effective technology solutions
  • Actively manage enterprise risk by implementing appropriate system controls and taking personal accountability to maintain confidentiality and data privacy

  • Consultants that we hire to implement changes to existing HR technologies and new HR technologies
  • Third party vendors that the business engages to automate or execute on business processes.
