Position Description

A reporting analyst on the Grainger Global Sourcing Operations & Systems team is responsible for the execution of timely and accurate department reports and support of tools used by Grainger Global Sourcing’s Supplier Performance Management, Order Management, Distribution Center, Sourcing, Product Management, Import, Export and Inventory Management departments to understand supply chain performance and health.

 

Individuals in this role are expected to meet deadlines, understand business needs/requirements, provide insightful commentary into reported results, and develop flexible, scalable processes to foster change as required by the business.

 

  • Produces timely and accurate reports for internal and external business partners for their use in making informed decisions to effectively meet or exceed departmental goals. 
  • Work cross-functionally with supply chain partners (Sourcing, Logistics, Distribution Center, etc...) to produce, implement and enhance reporting and processes.
  • Ability to merge multiple disparate data sources into reproducible reporting
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to understand business reporting requirements. 
  • Works with supervisor and peers to support improvement initiatives and/or system development efforts.
  • Effectively correlate multiple metrics across supply chain to tell a holistic story.
  • Collaborates with end-users to answer questions and provide additional insight about specific reports at the appropriate level of detail. 
  • Responsible for creating and executing report changes to improve information provided and report generation cycle time.
  • Responsible for daily maintenance of existing reports to ensure all the information is producing the intended results.
  • Responsible for fixing any internal reports that are not running properly.
  • Demonstrate ability to leverage both business acumen and technical skills to deliver results.
  • Demonstrate general understanding of key business strategies and how tools and reports support them, leveraging this understanding to provide insightful results commentary.
  • Serve as liaison between end users in department and Grainger’s Enterprise Systems organization where applicable.
  • Assist end users on interpreting reports and access to behind-the-scenes data.
  • Participate on cross-functional teams and projects where appropriate to ensure stakeholder concerns, and business issues are properly addressed for increased productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction/service.

Demonstrate ownership of tools and processes leveraged by stakeholders, serving as a key training and troubleshooting resource.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with Supply Chain, Statistics, Business or related field.
  • Must be comfortable working with systems such as SAP, Syspro, VMS, Optimiza, SPSS, Business Objects, Teradata, Business Warehouse, SQL Server and SharePoint.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office functionality (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) expected
  • VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) and Access knowledge highly preferred.
  • Understanding of sourcing operations is a plus.
  • Strong business, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to varying levels of stakeholders. 
  • Identify problems and determine corrective action. Unique situations and concerns must be identified and sound and reasonable solution conveyed to appropriate parties in effective and efficient means.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including a professional demeanor at all times
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive employee, customer, and cross-functional team relations
  • Ability to foster, manage and leverage relationships with stakeholders, team members, and end users.
