Primary Function:

Responsible for acquiring, transforming, and publishing digital product content assets to enhance and improve the quality of the product information used to support Grainger's online and mobile channels.  This role directly impacts the online customer experience and search to cart conversion.  Works with eCommerce, Product Management and Supplier partners to execute enhanced content strategies and tactics that improve the online experience. 


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute processes that acquire Supplier based product content assets.  Work directly with the Suppliers to secure digital assets, like videos, images, PDFs and 3D CAD.
  • Review, edit and link supplier content assets to the designated items. 
  • Maintain enhanced content relationships while considering input from multiple teams.
  • Work with the Image Center to secure and assign appropriate product images (alternate images, 360, color swatches) to the appropriate items.
  • Communicate opportunities to improve processes that speed delivery of product content assets from Suppliers to Grainger.com.
  • Compile data that supports defined metrics about conversion to cart and content coverage that demonstrates the value to business partners.
  • Participate in educating Product Managers, Suppliers, and eCommerce teams on content strategy and processes.
  • Create and maintain other Product Information (PI) content as needed and/or directed by the Projects & Content Team initiatives. Work with internal enterprise business partners to directly support key business initiatives. This includes, but not limited to, eCommerce, Technical Support, Sourcing, and other countries (i.e., scaling product content asset processes across North America).
  • Participate in PI team projects that support business priorities.
  • Audit digital product assets for accuracy and consistency.


Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 3-5 years' experience with product information/digital asset management systems and product content experience. 
  • 2-3 years' online merchandising and search experience a plus.
  • Experienced in managing and analysis of product information data.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across business functions and units (i.e. Product Management, Product Information, eCommerce, etc.)
  • Exhibits ability to build relationships, both internally and with suppliers.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Access, Excel, and Word) and Adobe.
  • Models customer focus in terms of response time, commitment and resourcefulness.
  • Proven orientation to detail, accuracy and getting results.
  • Understanding of Product Information Management systems and methodologies.
  • Demonstrate systemic thinking skills and ability to work in a complex data environment.
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills.  Able to translate technical information to easily understood concepts, decisions, and actions.



Acquire new and maintain existing digital product content assets for Grainger.com with a focus towards enhancing our customers' on-line experience. The Merchandising Content Analyst supports the Strategic Content Manager and Projects & Content team in maintaining and improving product information for the eCommerce strategies and tactics. Additionally, output from this position directly impacts other Global Product Management, Marketing, Sales,  and Global Supply Chain initiatives for Grainger


Working Relationship:

  • Interacts frequently with Suppliers and Supplier Representatives.
  • Interacts frequently with third-party service providers (SaaS, Contractors, etc.)
  • Interacts frequently with eCommerce, Hierarchy, Product Management (Grainger and Specialty Brands), Marketing and Field partners
