The Manager, Import Logistics and Compliance leads operational and procurement activity in conjunction with the Director of Global Logistics and Compliance This position is responsible to track and manage total logistical costs and ensure all import compliance requirements are met. This role will oversees a team of seven import logistics and compliance team members.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of senior professional, professional level and non-exempt roles
  • Develop processes to measure and direct the daily flow of inbound products, ensuring timely and cost efficient delivery. Partner with GSS teams overseas, GGS inventory teams and receiving DCs
  • Negotiate all contracts for ocean freight, freight forwarding, brokerage and U.S. domestic transportation for the GGS business unit.
  • Define requirements for a supply chain visibility tool; account for current gaps and future growth.
  • Define and measure carrier/broker operational requirements by market
  • Develop standard methods of communicating carrier and broker operational performance to internal partners
  • Continually monitor carrier/broker performance and recommend, as needed, when carrier reviews are necessary
  • Oversee the import compliance team; ensure classifications are accurate, import entries are filed on time, CTPAT procedures are in compliance, ISA requirements are fulfilled and monitor broker metrics.
  • Develop and implement new projects that support compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
  • Implement performance improvement plans/process changes
  • Responsible for Talent Management activities for the team to ensure employee assessments, coaching, development, and management, are performed on a consistent basis; recruit and on-board new employees.


  • Education - Bachelor's degree required, preferably in business or logistics, or equivalent related experience

  • Travel: up to 10-20% domestic travel (possible international travel required) to meet with distribution center management, branch management, cross-dock inspections and carriers



  • The position is responsible for the development of skills and professional experiences of team members to drive talent assessment, management, and improve the performance of the individual and the team
  • The position must be able to coach team members on effective delegation practices and the importance of building interpersonal relationships within the team and across the business
  • The position is responsible for the operational performance of global carriers and the successful and consistent delivery of service.
  • Manages an annual budget of $15MM+.


Working Relationships:

  • Reports to Director, Global Logistics and Compliance
  • Partners and actively collaborates with Senior Managers and Directors across Supply Chain, Sales, Customer Service, Sales, Brand, Finance, and Enterprise Services.
  • Provides regular updates, both written and verbal, to senior leadership including Vice Presidents across Supply Chain, Customer Service, Sales, Brand, Finance, and Enterprise Services.
  • Manages 3rd Party Logistics Provider Relationships
  • May interact with customers on an as needed basis
