Job Purpose

This position will design, develop, and write technical materials for Graco products in accordance with corporate, engineering, and legal standards. Materials may include equipment manuals, product support materials, and internal help documents. This documentation may be used in the sale, operation, training, and repair of products.

This position supports our Industrial Products Division (IPD) in Minneapolis, MN. At IPD, our product line includes finishing products, such as paint spraying systems used in the aerospace and automotive industries, as well as on furniture, windows and doors (http://bit.ly/1nPSYut). Essential Duties

* Write and update product instruction manuals and related documents.
* Complete Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) affecting technical publication documents.
* Follow set standards regarding format, content, order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
* Work closely with engineers, designers, legal representatives, safety experts, and fellow technical writers to develop clear, accurate documents.
* Create internal and external wiki articles, how-to videos, and supporting materials.
* Partner with an illustrator to create and edit simple product labels and procedural illustrations.
* Review translated manuals for formatting and follow guidelines on writing for translation.
* Maintain records and files of work and revisions.
* Support the technical communications team through various other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

* Pursuing a college degree or equivalent experience with a background in Technical Writing & Communication or a related field with an emphasis on written communication.
* 0 to 2 years of experience in technical writing.
* Demonstrated ability to produce high quality written work.
* Knowledge and experience with XML authoring, graphic design software, and/or 3D CAD tools helpful but not required.
* Strong technical aptitude.
* Excellent written communication skills.
* Good organizational, research, and analytical skills.
* Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines at once.
