Job Responsibilities:
The Vancouver Office of Golder Associates is seeking an Intermediate Rock Mechanics Engineer to support our growing Mining Rock Mechanics Group. At Golder Associates, we take pride in our ability to offer challenging roles and a multitude of opportunities for international exposure.

The suitable candidate will:
* Apply rock mechanics principles to surface and underground mine design problems ranging from basic applications to state of the art design;
* Be a self starter and be able to take ownership of project work using their technical experience;
* Demonstrate critical analytical and reporting skills.

Job Requirements:
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:
* An minimum undergraduate degree in Geological, Civil, or Mining engineering;
* Applicants should have a minimum 7 years of experience working on:
* Geotechnical investigations,
* Data reduction and analysis,
* Site characterization,
* Stability analyses in support to design studies,
* Managing geotechnical projects, and
* and writing technical memoranda and reports;
* Experience in problem solving with industry standard commercial computer software including DIPS®, SLIDE®, SWEDGE®, etc
* Strong people skills and an ability to work in a team environment;
* Ability to train and mentor more junior engineering staff;
* Willingness and ability to travel, both nationally and internationally, thus candidates should be able to adapt to challenging conditions;
* Excellent communication skills (both oral and written);
* Experience with, or aptitude for, business development;
* Experience in preparing proposals and design work packages in response to client needs;
* Ability to manage projects according to client-approved scopes of work, and deliver high quality reports on time and within budget;
* Must be registered or eligible to register to the professional association engineer in the Province of British Columbia (APEGBC);
* Must have a valid driver's license;
* Knowledge and experience in advanced numerical analysis an asset;
* Practical experience in mining ground control, preferably with exposure to several mining methods;
* Working outside of standard office hours will also be required from time to time.
