Accounting Intern

The summer intern program at Global Partners allows college students the opportunity to develop core business skills while working in one of our key business areas. Some of these include, but are not limited to, Accounting, Marketing, Human Resources, Sales, Legal and Terminal Operations. Global Partners has operated successfully for over 75 years and it is due in large part to its people. During this program, interns gain exposure to executive management where interns learn about the company's history, successes, and strategic direction. They work on a group project based upon solving a core problem for the business. They develop peer and professional networks that help them get where they want to be.

The Accounting Intern will be primarily responsible for providing support to Accounting Dept in Waltham Office. Accounting function is inclusive of General Ledger, Commodity Accounting, AR and AP. The intern will be responsible to ensure timely, efficient and accurate support of departmental processes and reconciliations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* This position is intended to require independent work under the supervision of the Manager.
* Prepare entries, and account reconciliations analysis for Balance Sheet and P&L accounts
* Work closely with the department in order to address/resolve outstanding items that arise.
* Prepare reconciliations and balance sheet / P&L account analysis in support of daily operations and month end close.
* Fill in for co-workers as needed
* Support special projects as assigned by Manager

About you:

* Applicant should be seeking a four-year college degree with at least 2 years completed in undergraduate study in Finance or Accounting
* Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills with strong verbal and written communications
* Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments
* Attention to detail and ability to produce at a high level of accuracy and have the ability to meet deadlines
* Ability to work both autonomously and within a dynamic team environment
* Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook
* Ability to efficiently learn and utilize new software applications
* Must possess integrity, strong work ethic and be able to maintain confidentiality
* The successful candidate will be a self-motivated and dynamic team player who is able to meet the demands of a growing business environment

Must be able to commit to 40 hours per week from June 3rd - August 9th
