The summer intern program at Global Partners allows college students the opportunity to develop core business skills while working in one of our key business areas. Some of these include, but are not limited to, Accounting, Marketing, Human Resources, Sales, Legal and Terminal Operations. Global Partners has operated successfully for over 75 years and it is due in large part to its people. During this program, interns gain exposure to executive management where interns learn about the company's history, successes, and strategic direction. They work on a group project based upon solving a core problem for the business. They develop peer and professional networks that help them get where they want to be.

Global Partners seeks a bright, ambitious and personable Intern to be a shared resource for the Commercial Bids and Tax departments. This role will support these departments by assisting in various projects and daily responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, a desire to succeed and a willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done.

Essential Job Functions

* The Intern will handle detailed requests from internal business partners and/or customers. He/she will prioritize requests in order of importance and provide information to the direct reports in the format requested and when required. This position requires an individual who is very detail oriented and can handle the pressure of deadlines in a fast paced environment.
* Contact customers and suppliers to obtain current business/tax licenses and exemption certificates. Maintain excel tracker and monitor responses. Proactively follow up with customers on open information requests.
* Obtain current W9 forms.
* Prepare reports for various people in supply.
* Assist in scheduling functions.
* Reconcile various reports.
* Assist in keeping systems updated by entering items such as trades, costs, etc.
* Assist in various analyses, which include P/L, costs, supply and demand, asset and terminals, etc.
* Timely and accurate input data.
* Other duties as requested, which may including assisting in special projects, research, and analysis.

Desired Skillset

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an outstanding ability to work collaboratively and independently.

Ability to interpret and analyze different types of data.

Proficient in Microsoft office, with strong background in Excel.

* Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written communications to customers and internal business partners.
* Willingness to do what it takes to get the job done.
* Positive attitude a must, with strong attention to details and demonstrated problem solving skills.
* Strong ability to learn new systems and applications quickly.
* Ability to multi-task and manage multiple tasks at once in a timely matter.
* Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program majoring in tax, marketing, business, accounting, finance, or economics or a related discipline.
* Must be able to commit to 40 hours per week from June 4th August 10th.
