Job Description

Summary of Role:

* Position available at the Burlington Vermont site for a materials scientist/physicist to work in the Materials Labs supporting all aspects of the site operations. GLOBALFOUNDRIES manufactures a wide variety of semiconductor products which are used in cell phones, cell towers, satellite communication systems and fiber optic networks. The materials lab is responsible for providing all materials analysis supporting incoming quality assurance, introduction of new materials to the site, and troubleshooting yield/process issues. This intern will be assigned projects using a variety of surface analytical techniques, including SIMS, XPS, and RBS. The project could also include programming and data processing.



Essential Responsibilities:

* The intern will have the opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art laboratory and interact with industry experts in both semiconductor analyses and processing.


* Perform all activities in a safe ad responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs



Required Qualifications:

* Education - Minimum BS degree in Engineering or Sciences


* Experience - Hands-on experience with laboratory instrumentation. Ability to use knowledge to learn operation of new instrumentation.


* Language Fluency - English


* Physical Capacity Demands - Able to work in normal lab environment



Preferred Qualifications:

* MS/PhD student enrolled in accredited Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry or similar degree program.


* Preferred background in Materials Science, Physics
