Job Description

George Fox University announces a non-tenure or tenure-track faculty position as Assistant Professor of Medical Science (Principal Faculty with potential for leadership role) in the school of medical science (PA), to begin in July 2020. This is a leadership position in a developing physician assistant program located in Newberg, Oregon.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

The Principal Faculty with potential for leadership role has assigned duties at the discretion of the program director. As a minimum, these include:

* Participate in the development, review, and revise as necessary the program mission statement
* Participate in program organization and administration
* Participate in development, planning, and continuous program evaluation (review and analysis)
* Participate in accreditation activities
* At the direction of the PD, supervise the PA program faculty and staff
* Lead faculty development and coordination of education activity
* Participate in student recruitment and selection
* Participate in clinical site development, retention, and ongoing monitoring
* At the direction of the PD, coordinate the day to day delivery of curriculum (teaching and instruction)
* Participate in the evaluation of student performance
* Provide remedial Instruction when needed
* Participate in curriculum development, ongoing evaluation, and coordination of instruction
* As necessary, provide academic Advising
* If desired, participate in clinical practice, scholarly activities, or advanced education
* Additional duties as needed and assigned by the program director

Professional Degree/Certification and Maintenance of License and Boards

* If a PA, must hold a master's degree or higher
* Physicians (MD/DO) may fill this role

Qualifications

* Graduate of an accredited PA Program
* Current NCCPA certification
* Eligibility for PA licensure in Oregon
* Three years of clinical experience as a practicing PA
* Preference given to applicants with academic experience in PA education
* Doctorate degree or enrollment in a doctorate program with projected graduation within three years of hire
* A commitment to working with a diverse population of students is essential; demonstrated experience in this area is preferred.
* All applicants must express a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a local church. In addition, professors agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.
* Candidates must have legal authority to permanently work in the U.S.

Salary and Rank

Appointment at the Assistant Professor level is anticipated, though candidates with significant teaching experience at previous institutions may be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor. Salary and benefits are competitive with comparable institutions.
