Job Description

L3 Communication Systems-West, a division of L3 Technologies, Inc., is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Co-Op in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Our internship program provides students with hands-on technical experience working with engineering teams in a cutting edge environment. Students are directed and mentored by experienced engineers and are responsible for assisting with projects and daily departmental/team activities.


* Work side by side with the EHS Team to ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations, and site procedures
* Assist with designing and building environmental and health and safety management systems.
* Assist with environmental programs such as air quality; stormwater pollution prevention; spill prevention, control, and countermeasure; Toxics Release Inventory; and solid/hazardous waste management.
* Assist with the completion of work place assessments and incident investigations.
* Evaluate current environmental, health and safety practices for opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness while reducing injuries and illness.
* Assist in maintaining accident prevention programs such as confined space, hearing conservation, fall protection, electrical safety, hoist and rigging, ergonomics, exposure monitoring, hazard communication
* Assist with the completion of work place assessments, incident investigations

Minimum Qualifications:

* Currently pursuing a 4 year degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering or similar field

Minimum Qualifications:

* Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks/projects at one time
* Skills in identifying workplace hazards
* Well-developed writing, verbal and computer skills sufficient to communicate with fellow EHS team members and communicate training, rules, and procedures; to solve problems and resolve conflict; to investigate incidents; assist team in preparation of corporate EHS audit

Due to the nature of our work qualified candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
