ATC Machinist / Programmer

Role Summary:

The The ATC Machinist / Programmer develops programs and processes for prototype, test and production hardware used for critical NPI programs. The ATC Machinist / Programmer will work in a hands on environment and will be directly responsible for the safe operation of CNC 4 axis mill / turns, adhering to blueprints and job traveler specifications, and the manufacture of high quality work pieces to meet customer requirements.

Essential Responsibilities:

In addition, the ATC Machinist / Programmer will :

Follow plans to meet desired manufacturing objectives

Adhere to schedules, engineering techs travelers, and customer requests

Participate in team meetings to address special needs & requirements

Share engineering information & promote open dialogue

Support preparation of invention disclosures to protect the technology that provides a competitive advantage to the business

Follow proper documentation and ensure technical data that is generated is consistent with engineering policies and procedures

Perform minor periodic maintenance and safety inspections

Take ownership of equipment and work area

Order supplies & lathe tooling if needed

Have basic knowledge of PC's and MS Office products

* li>Work safely, wear proper PPE, and maintain a neat and orderly work place

Be team oriented and have good communication skills

Leave good documentation for the following shift

Effectively use shop-metrology tools : OD / ID mics, pitch mics, joblocks, height & depth gauges, thread wires, & test indicators

Learn or have knowledge of the CAM software for programming complex work pieces. Esprit & NX

Ability to load, edit, post, delete & save programs

Have an understanding of basic canned cycles, writing simple MDI programs, & experience with G & M codes

Operate the 4 axis mill turn properly: Choose proper tooling & inserts, perform day-to-day maintenance

Learn all aspects of the machine - turning, boring, grooving / cut-off, drilling, tapping, milling, use of tail-stock & secondary spindle

Think outside the box - Make custom fixturing & cut unique jaw geometries to secure complex shapes for machining


High School Diploma / GED

Minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing or engineering (OR, an Associate's degree in an engineering or manufacturing discipline may be substituted for experience)


This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment

Ability and willingness to work overtime as required to meet business requirements

Wear proper PPE as required

Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen

Desired Characteristics:

Manufacturing experience in a machining or process engineering environment

Machining knowledge of Exotic Metals

Experience in one or more of the following process technologies: Manual machine tool operation, CNC machine tool operation, Quality inspection, CAD / CAM experience

Experience working a team-based environment

Strong interpersonal and communication skills
