MR Engineering Development Co-op, Beyond Segment

Location(s): United States; Wisconsin; Waukesha

Role Summary:

We are looking to hire Spring, Summer, or Fall interns for 6-9 months to work on exciting new technology in our MR Beyond Segment. GE Healthcare MR Engineering co-ops work on a variety of assignments with responsibilities and hands-on involvement in areas of systems and hardware design and verification. There will be project-oriented assignments where an engineering mentor is assigned for training and support.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. These positions will work with MR Scanner products and will include hands-on experience running the scanner.

2. MR Engineering Co-ops act as key team members interacting with development engineers to understand the design and development of key hardware products for MR systems.

3. MR engineering co-ops utilize a combination of data collection, data analysis and creative test approaches to develop and verify Premium MR Systems.

4. These individuals work hands-on with assembled prototype systems using their engineering skill sets and utilize problem-solving process to find defects and improve quality of the product design.


1. Must be a full-time student, as defined by your university, pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.

2. 3.0 cumulative overall GPA or better (in a 4.0 scale)

3. Current School Level: Sophomore, Junior

4. Must be available to work full time for a 6 - 9 month co-op.

5. Must be able to work out of the Waukesha, WI facility

Desired Characteristics:

1. Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate technical problems in clear and simple terms.

2. Demonstrated analytical ability and technical competency in Electrical design.

3. Proven Leadership skills and experience.

4. Strong Initiative and ability to work independently and in teams.

5. Experience in one or more engineering tools and software languages: Matlab, Excel, Labview, ADS or alternate RF engineering simulation platform, Altera's Quartus tool suite.

6. Prior intern, co-op, or research experience in design engineering or manufacturing or research experience in the design field.

7. Strong commitment to a career in technology and a passion for engineering.

8. Demonstrated analytic approach to problem solving.

9. Demonstrated leadership skills and community involvement.
