Role Summary:

The Vandalia Manufacturing Associate E will perform all responsibilities listed below.

Essential Responsibilities:

In this role, you will :

Comply with and supports all GE policies and the "Integrity: The Spirit and The Letter of Our Commitment" guide.

* Remove trash and waste from facility
* Must conform to all EHS guidelines, including, but not limited to, wearing required PPE
* Sweep, wax and clean plant as assigned.
* Maintain cleaning supplies in janitor storage.
* Move material as needed.
* Maintain recycle bins.
* Drive fork lift to load cardboard bales.


Language Development

Able to read and understand safety rules in the use and maintenance of shop equipment. Able to read related technical material and apply principles to daily operations. Able to read and complete forms.

Reasoning Development

Able to apply principles to solve practical problems. This includes dealing with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists

Required Personal Characteristics:

Willing to undergo on-the-job training and formalized training: including:

* Hazardous material training (includes preventing, controlling, evacuation)
* General emergency response under review of Emergency Response Manual
* Confined Space Entry
* Operations of portable fire extinguishers and preventive maintenance
* Review of emergency evacuation procedure

Must be able to demonstrate knowledge in or be willing to take training in the following Basic Safety courses:

* PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
* Chemical Hazard
* Mechanical Hazard
* Evacuation & Emergency Training
* Forklift/Scissor Lift training and certification
* Medical Surveillance
* Hearing Conservation

Working Conditions:

* Able to work in an area where there is moderate noise intensity (85 to 89.9 dBa).
* Able to work in an area where, due to normal machining operations there may be dust, fumes, or smoke (not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels (PEL)).
* Able to lift up to 25 pounds repetitively. Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds non-repetitive. With assistance, occasionally lift over 50 pounds.


High School Diploma / GED


This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.

Ability and willingness to lift up to 25 pounds repetitively, occasionally lift up to 35 pounds non-repetitively, and sometimes lift over 35 pounds with assistance

Ability and willingness to read and understand applicable information such as written instructions, procedures and specifications that apply to daily work operations

Ability and willingness to use hand tools (pliers, wrenches, hammers, etc.)

Ability and willingness to conform to all EHS guidelines including, but not limited to, wearing proper PPE

Ability and willingness to work in an area where there may be moderate noise intensity (85 to 89.9 dBa) and areas where hearing protection is required

Ability and willingness to work in an area where, due to normal machining operations, there may be dust, fumes, or smoke (not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels)

Desired Characteristics:

Minimum 1 year of experience in electronic assembly

Minimum 1 year of manufacturing or mechanical work experience

Minimum 1 year of prior assembly experience

Prior experience in soldering or brazing

Ability and willingness to perform light machining including but not limited to drill press, flush and back flush, lead cutting, stripping and forming

Ability and willingness to perform mechanical measurements using scales, calipers, and gauges

Ability and willingness to use pneumatic tools

Ability and willingness to receive and count stock items, and record data manually or using computer

Strong Customer Service skills

Strong Computer skills

Ability and willingness to change task when asked
