Role Summary:

The Vandalia Manufacturing Associate C will perform all responsibilities of assembly for all customer applications.

Essential Responsibilities:

In this role, you will :

Build and assemble rotors, stators, and generators

Perform electrical connections for electrical, electro/mechanical, and electronic assemblies

Insert, wind, and connect all coils, transformers, armatures, exciters, inductance coils, rotors, and stators as necessary

Complete assemblies using nuts, bolts, and screws

Perform mechanical measurements using scales, calipers, and gauges

Solder and braze assemblies, sub-assemblies, and components as necessary

Vacuum impregnate wound components

Perform potting, coating, and cleaning of all components

Perform light machining as necessary

Review, understand, and follow routers, procedures, specification, and other instructions for completeness to perform operation

Solder and braze assemblies, sub-assemblies, and components as necessary

Build up electrical harness assemblies and other types of controllers

Assemble and disassemble electrical components

Coat assemblies with various solutions per specifications

Use pneumatic and hand tools to perform assembly tasks

Keep all machinery, tools, and work areas clean

Apply basic math calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of fractions, decimals, and whole numbers)

Maintain strong attention to detail and knowledge of production processes

Demonstrate manual dexterity to perform assembly tasks in a safe and efficient manner

Maintain an excellent record of attendance and punctuality

Work in a team-based environment

Make decisions based on experience and available data

Accept and give constructive criticism

Maintain a positive attitude

Demonstrate an ambition to excel and advance in skills and knowledge

Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves in stockrooms, warehouses

Verify inventory counts by comparing them to physical counts of stock, and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors

Store items in an orderly, safe and accessible manner in warehouses, stockroom or other areas within the plant

Mark stock items using tags, or other labeling equipment

Provide assistance or direction to other stockroom / warehouse team members

Issue or distribute materials, products, parts, and supplies to customers or coworkers, based on information from incoming requisitions

Conform to all EHS guidelines including, but not limited to, wearing proper PPE

Work in an area where there may be moderate noise intensity (85 to 89.9 dBa) and areas where hearing protection is required

Work in an area where, due to normal machining operations, there may be dust, fumes, or smoke (not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels)

Lift up to 25 pounds repetitively, occasionally lift up to 35 pounds non-repetitively, and sometimes lift over 35 pounds with assistance

Successful candidate may be required to take classes in team building, environmental health and safety, and / or other on-the-job training to learn specific assignments

Qualifications/Requirements:

High School Diploma / GED

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS :

Ability and willingness to read and understand applicable information such as written instructions, procedures and specifications that apply to daily work operations

Ability and willingness to use hand tools (pliers, wrenches, hammers, etc.)

Ability and willingness to conform to all EHS guidelines including, but not limited to, wearing proper PPE

Ability and willingness to work in an area where there may be moderate noise intensity (85 to 89.9 dBa) and areas where hearing protection is required

Ability and willingness to work in an area where, due to normal machining operations, there may be dust, fumes, or smoke (not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels)

Desired Characteristics:

Minimum 1 year of experience in electronic assembly

Minimum 1 year of manufacturing or mechanical work experience

Minimum 1 year of prior assembly experience

Prior experience in soldering or brazing

Ability and willingness to perform light machining including but not limited to drill press, flush and back flush, lead cutting, stripping and forming

Ability and willingness to perform mechanical measurements using scales, calipers, and gauges

Ability and willingness to use pneumatic tools

Ability and willingness to receive and count stock items, and record data manually or using computer

Strong Customer Service skills

Strong Computer skills

Ability and willingness to change task when asked
