Responsibilities for this Position:

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) has an immediate opening for a Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Engineer to join our DSP Center of Excellence in our Scottsdale, AZ location. The position provides an opportunity to work directly with some of our nation's fundamental defense services. GDMS employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. You will work with collaborative teams to secure clients information systems and their contents. You will have the opportunity to work with Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs), digital signal processors (DSP), and/or General Purpose Processors (GPPs) utilizing MATLAB/SIMULINK for system level design, modeling, and verification.

An entry-level knowledge of Signal Processing Algorithms and Embedded Real-time C++ development is required.

In this role the DSP Engineer will be responsible for the following:

Basic understanding of communication theory with the ability to quickly understand complex processing algorithms Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support the generation of technical engineering products Works as individual technical contributor but can integrate into a team environment Working knowledge of software tools such as Integrated Development Environments (IDE) like Eclipse or Visual Studio, as well as version control and defect reporting tools Participates in internal review of software components and systems Software development life-cycle model Design responsibilities include most, if not all, phases of design: including architecture and requirements development preliminary and detail design requirements verification and documentation Effectively and efficiently work with other team members to include other design engineers, systems engineers, software engineers, project managers, customers and suppliers

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in software engineering, a related technical field, or the equivalent experience is required. In addition, a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required. Knowledge of Signal Processing Algorithms and E mbedded Real-time C++ development is required Some travel may be required Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Must be able to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret security clearance. Due to the nature of work performed in our facilities, U.S. Citizenship is required

Qualifications (Preferred):

Willingness and aptitude to be a self-starter in a dynamic technical environment Basic understanding of communications theory including knowledge of modulation theory, forward error correction and wireless protocols Basic understanding of digital signal processing techniques Basic understanding of stochastic processes and probability theory Thrives in a team environment working together to debug and solve system level problems Ability to perform basic root cause analysis while analyzing and correcting software algorithms Agile Scrum methodology Signal Processing / DSP / Modem development (ie. MATLAB Model to C++ implementation)
