We have an exciting opportunity for an Entry-Level Software Engineer to join our Lasers and Advanced Sensors Group located in Rancho Bernardo, CA. Under general supervision and with on-going review, this position supports the software information processing and exploitation group in the development and engineering of target detection and tracking algorithms and software for passive, active, and multi-spectral passive infrared and EO imaging systems. Contributes to the completion of assigned engineering tasks in the software and algorithms group not limited to data analysis, algorithm design and test, and software implementation. These tasks involve the exercise of independent judgement and discretion about matters of significance in the development and testing of algorithms and software. The position contacts are primarily internal to the team; however, this position has the growth opportunity to have contact with internal and external customers with mentoring provided by the senior staff in the departments. May provide direction to other team members. This position provides documentation, results, and software and algorithms and communicates this work to the software and algorithm team.


* Support and performs test and evaluation of target tracking and detection algorithms and embedded software developed by the algorithm and software group
* Convert Matlab algorithms to C++ for implementation on embedded computing systems
* Perform data analysis on tracking and target detection algorithms applied to imaging data sets
* Implement test procedures and approaches for algorithms at various stages of development
* Provides high quality documentation and presentations on work products such as test and evaluation of algorithms and software, and algorithm development.
* Performs other duties as required.

Job Qualifications

* Typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering or other engineering field with computer software background and expertise.
* Must be familiar and proficient with C++, Matlab, and C programming environments and understand programming theory and approaches.
* Must be able to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately through an evolving environment. Good communication, computer, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other professionals, to produce appropriate documentation, and to present results to a limited internal audience. Must be able to work both independently and on a team.
* Able to work extended hours as required.
