Operates/sets-up presses to produce ceramic and glass products to specification. Maintains required levels and quality of production by setting dies and hardened pins, adjusting presses. Inspects in-process ware, loads and unloads presses. Works with various presses, quick fire furnace, acetylene torch and various inspection devices. Receives supervision from Management and direction from Supervisor.

Primary Functions:

Sets up presses for proper operation by setting all types of tooling, testing, and placing specifications for such presses as E, F, F4, T,212,612,1204, Dorst, etc.

Uses & adjusts as needed all quick-fire kilns for the purpose of testing as needed.

Uses necessary inspection devices such as balances and micrometers in order to assist in making initial set-ups or proper adjustments to weight or height dimensions, and to inspect ware in process.

Recognizes pressing deficiencies and takes corrective action to correct or rectify.

Produces ware according to required specifications by insuring that proper type ceramic, glass, color, grain size, etc. are being used.

Keeps presses and all auxiliary parts and equipment clean by use of cleaning fluids or compounds, wiping, brushing, scrubbing, etc.

Performs all miscellaneous and necessary related activities required to insure production of quality ware and optimum production performance of presses.

Transferring pressed ware from presses to sintering trays or containers.

Assists other personnel and Engineering Department as required to meet production and shipping schedules.

Communicates tool and or press issues with other departments as needed and will assist with determining the problem.

Communicates press state of readiness and special instructions / concerns with the pressroom adjusters by either written and or verbal instructions.

Maintains required record keeping as determined by management.

Maintains assigned work area in clean and orderly condition, works in a safe manner, and observes all safety rules and practices.

Works under minimum supervision; but notifies Supervisor and/or Management of any unusual situations requiring their attention.
