Job Description

We seek an experienced paralegal to join a fun and collaborative legal team. You will be responsible for supporting the company's employment advice and litigation work, with attorney oversight. The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter and team player who wants to develop expertise in employment law.

This role will report into the Employment Law team and work with business partners across the company and outside counsel. Coordinating communication among these teams and stakeholders will be an important and challenging responsibility of this role.

* Manage litigation "Hold Memo" process on assigned charges and litigation and assist with electronic discovery.

* Assist attorneys in conducting initial investigation of new litigation matters. Work with witnesses to explain the litigation process, the roles of Gap Inc. Legal and outside counsel, and "clear" witnesses for initial interviews by outside counsel.

* Act as point of contact for Gap Inc. outside counsel regarding document and witness issues and manage the discovery process. Locate and provide documents, Company information and witness contact information as needed on an ongoing basis. Coordinate depositions and deposition preparation.

* Maintain claims tracking systems and assist in management of claims' settlement administration.

* Perform basic legal research, utilizing online research tools and Internet

* Manage, oversee and track wage and hour claims from state and federal agencies, subpoenas, garnishments, store labor audits and Puerto Rico wrongful dismissal claims.

* Review counsel advice, assess risk/benefit, and recommend course of action to in-house attorneys. Proactively identify and escalate potentially significant legal, business, and reputational risks

* 3 years relevant experience in a law firm or law department

* Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, seek guidance and escalate appropriately, effectively manage time and projects, and handle multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment

* Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and succinctly both orally and in writing

* Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and resourcefulness

* Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills with strong sense of accountability, adaptability, and a positive attitude

* Solid command of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)

* College degree required; paralegal degree/certificate preferred
