Job Description

Under general supervision and working as part of the Children Who Witness Violence Team (CWWV), provides assessment and crisis and acute trauma intervention services to children and their families who have witnessed violence. Assists families in planning for safety and in understanding the potential impact of the incident on children. Assess for needs as it relates to the traumatic event and links families to appropriate resources. Completes and maintains service documentation according to agency and regulatory standards.

  1. Provides and array of community based services that address the individualized needs of children and families who have experienced a violent event, these include: in person outreach attempts, safety planning, psychoeducation on the potential impact of exposure to violence, linkage to community resources, assessment of trauma symptoms, and assisting with developing coping skills.
  2. Initiates outreach within set standards and makes appropriate amount of attempts to engage referred persons into services.
  3. Assesses individual needs families have as they relate to the incident and identify resources that can help resolve the family crisis; Will be available to transport to certain appointments such as court, Family Justice Center, etc.
  4. Provides diagnostic tools and when warranted full diagnostic assessments to determine mental health needs; Makes appropriate recommendations to address ongoing mental health needs.
  5. Coordinates effectively with agencies and systems that come into contact with the client and family
  6. Promotes resiliency in assisting client and families to identify strengths and positive coping skills to alleviate acute symptoms of trauma.
  7. Initiates appropriate action and crisis intervention with individuals/clients or situations through prompt utilization of community resources and seeks supervision and consultation when clients are in crisis.
  8. Ensures the safety and engagement of clients by providing a safe, non-threatening and supportive response while establishing and maintaining professional boundaries.
  9. Establishes and maintains regular contact and follow up for active an open cases
  10. Ensures compliance with productivity and documentation and record keeping standards as set by the agency in accordance with funders, ADAMHS Board requirements, and accreditation requirements.

Qualifications:

Must have or be working towards a masters degree in social work, psychology, sociology or related field, with a minimum of one year professionally supervised work in the delivery of mental health, chemical dependency and/or social services.

LSW or LPC Required

Mus have a valid Ohio driver's license with less than six points

Qualifications
