Account Executive Specialist

JOB TITLE: Account Executive FLSA STATUS: Exempt

LOCATION: Southern California

REPORTS TO: Vice President of Sales

DATE: September 2018


Maintain, Grow Sales and Gross Profits for FreshPoint. This position will provide elite customer care for a limited but highly specialized group of customers. The duties are responsibilities listed reflect the needs of these customers and our commitment to being their most valued and trusted business partner.


Customer relationship

* Provide excellent customer service and develop good working relationships with both internal and external customers.
* Meet with all accounts and facilitate Customer Satisfaction Survey.
* Maintain accuracy of all order guides and customer information.
* Work with Purchasing, Transportation, and Quality departments to help customers get the right product at the right time while being profitable for our company.
* Communicate and share information on product quality, and new/seasonal/local/finishing items, and do so in ways that are specific to each chef. Learn what items your chefs like, look for items that they will be excited about, and share info on those items.
* For important accounts and/or important orders, the night before delivery, check inventory for each item on the order to anticipate shorts, find out when the desired product will come in, find out if the customer can wait until the following day, or offer creative/effective substitutes, and enter the subs.
* Enter add ons as requested by the customer after the order cut off, and confirm we have the product.
* Communicate shorts to customers at a time that works for their operation, find out if they can wait until following day, enter second runs before the cut off as needed, work with Inventory and Dispatch to make sure the customer will get the product, and let the customer know the second run ETA.
* Encourage customers to use our apps to place their orders and make payments.
* Help customers succeed by working with them to consolidate deliveries for the best possible pricing, by finding the best product mix for each customer's needs, by working to achieve 100% fill rate, by sharing pertinent information, by working with them on menu changes, by keeping their order guides and bids updated, by communicating effectively and timely.


* Maintain and grow FreshPoint Southern California's sales, gross profit and margins.
* Review all accounts to insure maximum sales and profit per stop.
* Develop relationships with all cooks and chefs in each kitchen and share product info with them because chefs move around a lot, and we want every chef to take us with them.


* Assist purchasing with the timely utilization of all inventories to maximize inventory turns and reduce inventory shrink.
* Communicate your customers' menu changes and large, out-of-the-ordinary orders to Purchasing so they can adjust their pars.
* When checking inventory for customer orders, let Purchasing know if an item has low inventory.
* Handle special orders per the policy. Work with Inventory and Purchasing to recover when special orders are shorted.


* Work with credit department to keep accounts within credit terms.


* Work with transportation to maximize route profitability and elimination of off day deliveries.


* Arrive promptly, be prepared and participate in all company meetings.
* Attend and participate in customer and local industry functions.
* Maintain open communication with all departments of the company.
* Submit all reports in a timely manner as requested.
* Valid California driver's license
* Maintain auto insurance acceptable to company and list as an additional insured on policy. Defensive driving course required.
* Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices, Company Polices and Safety procedures.
* Must have a positive attitude.
* Good attendance and adherence to work schedule
* Other duties as assigned
* Be a student of our industry; leaning about produce and dairy, and how chefs use these items. Obtain this knowledge from FreshPoint, your chefs, and outside sources like television, publications, and classes.
* Learn how kitchens operate, and specifically your customers' kitchens. For example: how/when do they prep; when is family meal; the stations in a kitchen; who works and preps for each station; what does each chef and cook do during service; who opens, who closes; etc. By understanding your chefs' operations, you will better be able to help them.

QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this job.

* Must be able to work will all levels within the organization in a professional manner.
* Ability to work in a fast paced environment while handling multiple tasks and professional relationships with ease and efficacy.
* Proven ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written) in a positive manner, follow through on directions and organize effectively to satisfy the customer's needs.
* Must have a valid CA Drivers License
* Must have a clean MVR/No DUI or serious driving offenses.
* Possess basic knowledge of produce, dairy/grocery products and culinary industry.
* Good communication skills; Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
* Good math skills
* Good computer skills - Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
* Detail oriented
* Ability to handle multiple tasks
* Strong organizational skills and ability to handle crisis situations effectively.
* Knowledge of Southern California; San Fernando Valley


* Two (2) years of experience preferred in outside sales in a fast paced environment, preferably produce or food distribution.
* High school degree


* Ability to manually move up to 25 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs infrequently.
* Must be able to drive a motor vehicle.
* Frequent walking, reaching, bending, squatting, pushing and pulling.
* Must be able to enter data into the computer system.
* Must be able to hear and speak
* Must be able to see near and far.
* Have the ability to sit for extended periods and perform repetitive movements in wrist and arms on a frequent basis.
